Could Houston get "Amped" ??

Just throwing thoughts against the wall here, but with the impending flip of CBS's KLSX in Los Angeles to the teen oriented "Amp" format, and speculation that the same thing will happen in New York...

Is there a possibility that CBS would relaunch 95.7 with the Amp format? Would seem to skew a bit younger than Hot, if that is possible. What would then work on 96.5 (when the sale closes) if they did make such a move on 95.7? It appears Mega is not going anywhere. Neither is KILT-FM...for now.

Lots of discussion on the LA and NYC boards. The KLSX flip happens at 7pm Central time tonight...might be worth checking out the live stream.

Considering Hot's success, seems unlikely. The station I'm cueing my recorders up for is KHMX. The oldest Mix station in the country, somewhat of a musical overlap with Hot, thrown together morning show, and no musical direction in a loooooong time. If that's not screaming potential CBS flip, nothing does.

...for now? Try ...for ever. Kilt's one cash cow with no end in sight.

Actually, the oldest Mix station in the country is Orlando. Nationwide tested it at the former BJ-105 in 1989 before taking it to Houston in 1990.

As for the AMP format... Hot is the AMP format, tweaked for Houston.

I agree, they need to do something fresh and new at 96.5.

CBS has to do something with KHMX. It has become a DEAD frequency. They've fallen off the earth in terms of ratings, and are no longer relevent. Dumping the MIX format and freshening it up with a modified "AMP" could only help. Then the station might actually have a purpose.
