I just read a post on the NYC Board here on Radio-Info and something popped in my head. I have been a Philly resident my entire 30 years of existence. I grew up listening to old school hip hop/r&B in the late 80's and 90's. Would a JACK type urban format work in philly? Of course I think it would have to be a hybrid of old philly stations like Power 99 back in the day, Q102 from the 90's (with freestyle and hip hop and dance music), and (GASP!) Jammin' Gold.
The person on the NYC Board said there are stations that our parents can hear with their music from "growing up", why is it that music from late 80's and early 90's that isn't rock or pop gets pushed aside? i would love everyone's opinion on this.
