Could John and Ken Go To...???

Probably not, but I am going to through this out here just for the fun of it....

Given that KFI is, sadly, bowing into political pressure and basically censoring John and Ken, could those at KABC see this as a chance to swept John and Ken and give them a show with no restraints... and perhaps even begin airing it on KLOS?

John and Ken, however you may feel about them, are very popular radio hosts here in Southern California, but having to watch what they say is beginning to show and could drive away listeners and this could be a good opportunity for KABC, or somebody else, to scoop them up and bring back with much fanfare "the real John and Ken you all know and love!"

I'ts a good thing you said you weren't being serious, because you included KABC as a possibility in your post.

Lol! But they DID steal T-Rae after mucho years at KFI, so anything's possible!

John & Ken ARE playing it REAL safe (taxes, politicians, LA Mayor, etc. Boring and dull topics on par with beating a dead horse!), have become neutered by Robin and willl never be the same at KFI since they'll have to worry about truly speaking their mind and getting either suspended or terminated. Oh what I would give to be a bug in the rug in the John & Ken households!

J&K already worked at KABC once, from what they've said about the experience and of course the ratings that they didn't get there, I'd say the possibility of them going there is zero. Plus KABC would/could never pay them what they want.

They could not go to KABC.

1.They already tried that and failed.
2. J&K are in a contract at KFI
3. It would be a huge step down to go from 700,000 listeners to less than 18,000 which is what KABC in the last book reported (no wonder Larry Elder is never the target of protests since no one is listening)
4. KABC has no money, particularly with the Dodgers gone.
5. They are more politically correct than KFI, just ask FHF or Tim Conway Jr.

A suspension, with pay, which is apparently what J & K were given is just as much a ceremonial act as the LACC's resolution against what they consider to be racial or ethnic slurs. The suspension was a PR ploy to give the appearance of concern on the part of KFI management and in the end probably drove more listeners to 640-AM to see what all the fuss was about.

John and Ken are the most listened to talk hosts in the market, they are under a contract which by all indications is quite lucrative to themselves while their show brings big bucks to the Clear Channel Cluster. So for them to leave and most especially to a lesser signal with fewer listeners would be a career destroying move on their part. It ain't gonna happen no matter what. If some unforeseen fit of insanity were to strike the management team at KFI the dynamic duo would land in another market almost as soon as the dust settled. But there is no other station in the LA market that could afford them or get them the ears that the powerful KFI signal does.

KABC management isn't NEARLY as easy going as Greg Ashlock and Company over at KFI.

They FIRED Tim Conway Jr. after just one day, for being himself. Even Conway told the O.C. Register he "felt absolutely relieved" to be out of KABC. (http://www.ocregister.com/entertainment/kabc-42755-conway-joke.html)

Doesn't sound like the kind of place J&K would land and do well, imo.

And the more accurate statement is "J&K's ratings help bring in big bucks for KFI." J&K themselves don't bring in the bucks, although their endorsements of dentists and Lasik centers does help.

David, which has the higher population of listeners to draw from, morning or afternoon drive? Is Handel's share also 1/3 more, or is that just a raw listener count?

I fread somewhere that the results of PPM have shown that 3-4 PM & 4-5 PM listening levels are much higher than orginally believed, and may out do AM drive in many or all markets, and that listening levels during middays on Saturdays (10 AM-3PM) are substantially higher than the 'prevailing industry opinion' of the past few decades.
