"ALL ACCESS hears that there's much more than just rumor behind the story that INFINITY has planned the use of the slogan FREE FM as the name for not only its new Talk KIFR/SAN FRANCISCO but for its FM Talk stations in several other markets.

The slogan appears to be the basis for URL registrations including "1069freefm.com" and others that correspond to the frequencies of other INFINITY FM Talkers, and ALL ACCESS hears that plans for a nationwide web of "FREE"-branded FM Talkers are underway, and the stations involved include not only existing FM Talkers in LOS ANGELES, DETROIT, DALLAS, CHICAGO, and WASHINGTON, but also other markets. ALL ACCESS hears that several top INFINITY programmers are involved in a company-wide effort, including some presently programming stations in other formats, like WFAN/NEW YORK's MARK CHERNOFF".

Don't know If I get why a total rebranding is a good idea here, but then again, Infinity went to hell when Uncle Mel left.

"Free"? An obvious attempt to slap Sirius when Howard goes. So what would be "Free"? No advertising? Highly doubtful of course.I propose "Repressed" FM. and geared to the P&K fans, all three of them.

Infinity went to hell a long time before Mel left. As a matter of fact, it is people like Mel that screwed up radio. There were those at Clear Channel that did for Clear Channel what Mel did for Infinity. Collectively...they have really messed-up a good thing...possibly to the point of no return.
