COULD LOVE-FM TAKE ON V103?

They already did a similar format except it was mostly love songs with some Soft AC thrown in. But who knows. They already got John Monds from WSRB.
 
Didnt Jon do V103 before WSRB? I also noticed they are playing more mainstream urban songs in the last few weeks.....

I haven't heard anything out of the ordinary. They keep playing Smash Mouth & 80s Duran Duran, Don Henley, etc though which is far from Urban.
 
They play the Smash Mouth & 80s Duran Duran, Don Henley, etc, But they are not back to back... they seem to be doing 2 to 3 urban mainstream artist (earth wind and fire, GQ, commodores, etc) to 1 mainstream -same stuff they always play but more mainstream urban then they used to do......it used to be 1 one urban artist to 3 mainstream......its a nice change, IMO.

Nothing they haven't done before. Before tweaking to "feel good music" it wasn't uncommon to hear up to 5 or more "mainstream urban" artists like the ones you mentioned in a row. LOTS of Teddy Pendergrass, Commodores and Barry White. A lot of what they are playing in that catigory is hold overs from the original Love. I always considered the original Love an urban AC/soft AC combo. It sounded pretty good.
 
Yes, it does sound like the old love...They always seems to have a large void of urban records like from 1980-1987. They play like SOS band, Evelyn King, and a few others. But seem to miss ones like Lakeside, Skyy, & Phyliss Hyman....
 
Jack FM wont change (anytime soon) But WCKG has to go. no matter what host they ad it seems to bomb. This station is crying "CHANGE ME" as for a format lets see what is missing. Active rock hire mancow in the morning and active rock the rest. Standards. there are no standards stations i can think of (except wcgo south burbs) Here is what there is to much of. Classic Rock, hiphop and the different variances, jack and all the variances, talk,sports, CHR, and i can problebly think of more. we need something new. Chicago radio does suck.

Yes we can...But if someone could rewrite the Urban AC rule book it would be great. Toss the "Anita Baker, Ballad Luther, and Marvin Gaye" Hits & Dusties Format.

Go for a "Grown & Sexy" 30 and up concept- "Heavy" Uptempo 80s, 90s with a few 70s sprinkled in... Toss in Currents along this vibe: Charles Barkley's "Crazy", Omarions "Entourage", Beyonces "Deja Vu", Justin Timberlakes "Sexy Back". Keep Uptempo to Ballads at a 5 to 1 ratio and you will have a blockbuster format.....
