Could smooth jazz return to New Orleans??

Don't get excited, I don't have any inside info or any knowledge with rumors of changes to radio formats in the area, but I would love for smooth jazz to return to New Orleans. I know it didn't work well the last 2 times we had it (106.7 was from I believe 1994 to 1996; and 94.9 was from August 2000 to just after Thanksgiving 2001). I really enjoyed listening to the Christmas selections 94.9 had during Christmas 2000.

I find it puzzling that smooth jazz has been a failure on New Orleans radio (at least on the commercial side), considering that the city is the birthplace of jazz.
______________

Jazz and smooth jazz are not the same thing. But WWOZ seems to have a solid group of followers. I wonder what kind of number they would post.
______________

There used to be a website that had ratings of non-commercial stations, but it's been so long since I saw it. I'm trying to do a search on the Internet for it, but no luck so far. If I find it, I'll let you know how it's doing.

EDIT: I found the site, rrconline.org. However, WWOZ did not subscribe during the most recent period, so numbers for them are not available.
