I appologize if this has been aked already but I was wondering if anyone could post the fomat flip of the Zone to True oldies. Again I do appologize if it is posted somewhere and I missed it but if anyone has it I would like to hear it.
Thanks

Agreed, I would like to hear it to. It was wierd, on my way to work I flipped and listen to Sludge & Brian. Then at the end of my day at work, I read on there about the flip, I couldn't believe it.

It was very close timing for me when the format flipped and would have recorded it... if I was not 1000+ miles away from Chicago at the time. I had stopped in an internet cafe in downtown Oranjestad, Aruba (I was on my honemoon and my wife was getting her nails done) and checked this board literally 4 minutes before the change. I clicked the "listen live" icon on the Zone's website, hoping to at least listen to it happen live. I heard music, and then the stream abruptly stopped. I could not pick it up again.

I found out about the flip at 12:43PM. 43min after it happened. But they replayed the flip content because it was all locally ran and pre made. I did catch that on tape, but not the official flip.

Was it just me or did they cut right out of the middle of "For whom the bell tolls"?

Radio is very different down there. I wish I had time to do 10 minutes of DXing the night I had a rental car, but the honeymoon was priority. Have to draw the line somewhere. However, Mrs. Col. Mustard would not have had a problem with it, since she is somewhat of a radio geek herself.

Yeah: "For Whom the Bell Tolls" - Metallica!

Damn, they cut right in the middle of that song. Bastards. I miss the zone already.

Thanks! Wow, that totally hurt hearing the last seconds of my favorite Chicago rock station.

Sounds kinda like the WRCX flip

WRCX flip sounded good. Although I miss Rock 103.5. Why is it, that formats like those never last. Also the flip from 92.7 Kiss FM to Energy 92 was realyl good too. Perfect dance song: "The Launch."<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by ZelenRecords on 10/07/05 04:29 PM.</FONT></P>

Once Mancow left, the station ran out of billing steam. A lot like what could happen if he ever leaves Q101 now.

Disco 'DAI's last song (although they were not a pure disco station at the end and had stopped using the "Disco 'DAI" positioner) was Donna Summer's "Last Dance" played over and over for at least 12 hours. (Bob Sirott when the flip occurred--"Hey, let's hear that song again!")

I don't remember the first song played in full on W-Rock, but I remember a montage that they played that included an edit-together of the Chuck Berry, Beatles and Beach Boys versions of "Rock & Roll Music."

The crazy thing for me, is I completly missed it. I was a huge Mancow fan at the time when he was on Rock 103.5. I left on a trip to Israel for 1 month during the summer. I came back, and saw a billboard of him on Q101, and heard him on Q101. I asked around, and found out he was off the air that whole month I was gone, then came on Q101. It hasn't been the same since.

I think the radio owners here in town get greedy then they flip. Other markets have mainstream or active rockers celebrating 10 to 20 yr anniversies. But not here in town. Rock 103.5 was on only 4yrs, Same with the blaze as well. They give up to easy on the rock stations. Every business has ups and downs.

I consider Rock 103.5 just a continuation of the Blaze under a different name, different owner and different call letters. Even if Evergreen first said that Rock 103.5 was going to be a mainstream AOR, it ended up staying in the same hard rock direction as the Blaze.
