Could This Happen To Power

Today Clear Channel flipped 94.5 The Beat CHR/Rhythmic WGBT in Greensboro, NC to Spanish Oldies after they couldn't compete with Entercom's 102 Jamz CHR/Rhythmic. 94.5 The Beat was born sometime in 2003. With this said could Power 104.1 flip to Spanish Oldies if they can't compete well with Hot 93.7 which isn't even hurting much since Power was born.

I would rather seen an Urban AC station similar to WRKS in NYC.

AGREED! Kinda like WYBC-FM 94.3 of New Haven. It's too bad they can't increase their signal any. I get them in stereo with some noise in New Britain's south end. As for 104.1, although I'd never listen to it, they just should've made it a Spanish station when they flipped it in 2003.
______________

Well, if and when it makes financial sense for a format change, it will happen. But, not based on speculation.

Exactly. As long as the station is making money, there is no need for a change.

The only scenario that would happen if Clear Channel decides to flip 104.1 to a Spanish format is if the ratings and changing tastes in listenership were to make inroads in Hartford. But I agree WPHH will soldier on.

If 104.1 or any other FM station flipped to Spanish will Freedom Broadcasting move WKND to the much more powerful 910 signal? I hear a rumor somewhere that WRYM (La Gigante) AM 840 in Newington (COL New Britain) could flip to an English Language Full Service station if an FMer goes Spanish.

While ZMX has beaten up on Power pretty badly. 104.1 is still doing better as Power than they were as Radio 104.
______________
