Could this happen with WPRO AM&FM?

With all the talk about financial turmoil at Citadel and its impact on the Providence cluster would they save enough in salaries offsetting loss of many sponsors on Pro fm if they did a 24/7 simulcast with WPRO 630 on 92.3 to satisfy any slashing orders that could come down? WPRO could boost ad rates since 2 signals would broadcast ads. Of course same building also has WSKO AM&FM simulcasting 20 hours a day.

The two formats are so different and both have such a strong audience. Yeah you could double up the programming, but unfortunately you will also lose half the audience when you take away music on Pro-FM. That move would just be suicide.

Joey thank you for this humorous interlude during this period of Providence radio apocalypto, but either you've been nipping at the wassail while posting or you're really David Bernstein. Still, it's radio & we always have to qualify by saying "stranger things have happened". We could really have a field day with a list of "There's a better chance of ____ happening" with this one though.

I think you'd sooner see WSKO-FM switch to a simulcast with WPRO-AM, mainly because like people said, you 2 very different types of listeners there, and you'd lose a larger base cutting the Top 40 format.

Wow JoeyK, hopefully there are no programming jobs in your future. Simulcasting the AM talk station with a 3 and dumping the CHR that gets upwards of a 13 share in some demos would be more ridiculous than keeping Jim Corwin as GM! Oh wait....

That would make the most sense for 99.7.If you are looking to simulcast wpro-am.I thought of that a long time ago.Especially at night where wpro's night time signal stinks after you get past warwick.

I say that, but I think Citadel is content right now to see what St Pierre can do to bring the station back. I was thinking the other day, its kinda odd to have a sports station that doesn't play any type of sports broadcasts during the week outside of baseball season. You would think they'd try to pick something up, maybe even try for a broadcast of the Baby-B's

They've got Brown Football & Basketball; but agreed...they should look into wither the P-Bruins (their former home was the Score) or the Boston Bruins as there isn't an affiliate in Providence

like an earlier post had said... with WPRO supposably being the flag ship... and especially with the new line up of all locals i dont understand why 99.7 isnt syndicated with 630am instead of the forgotten 790 besides that right now citadel is doing the right thing in providence... ( oh besides the fact there still no night jock at pro fm) lol

They are going to give Ron a chance to gets things turned around before switching the simulcats, maybe signalling the performance & billing that Yankees games get.

Matt and Huggy. That may be the Gayest name I've heard for a program since The Mike Butts show was in town. In any event, good for those guys for not giving up. But I bet the pay at YSP was better than what they are making now. They are probably getting paid in Beer.

If you're old enough to remember the phrase "PRO PERSONALITIES ARE SOMETIMES COMPENSATED FOR THEIR APPEARANCES," you'll find this intriguing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K272MNoIoEQ

WHO NEEDS A TRANSMITTER?
I heard about these guys for the first time a week or so ago.
This is how stupid "BIG CORPORATE AMERICA" is.
