Could WCBS 880 Start Airing Non-News Programming?

What has long been rumored in the radio industry officially becomes reality this weekend, as CBS' KFWB will begin airing leased-time (or brokered) programs, as well as syndicated shows. KFWB is one of two all-news stations owned by CBS Radio, the other being KNX.

Could this eventually be duplicated here in New York, where CBS also owns two all-news stations? True, WINS is geared toward the city, while WCBS concentrates on the suburbs. And both stations - for now - seem to be holding their own. But in today's radio landscape, I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually came to this.

This will occur between 11:00PM & 5:00AM. It will be called infomorcials through the night. ;D

Yep, pounding information into any head that will receive it as they tell you, valued listener, to call with your views, because you matter, your relationship has grown strong and endured good times and bad; you are their family, they love you, they mean it - and then..."for English press 1".

Good old information programming by the banks who bought the networks.
