"Countdown with Keith Olbermann" makes it's NBC debut

Keith Olbermann's MSNBC show is moving up to the big leagues...for one night only.

"Countdown" is airing at 7 PM Tonight (Sunday 8/26) on NBC.

I hope this works out...and it becomes a regular weekly show.

NBC would be better off replacing the insipid "unscripted" 8 p.m. hour (as defined by NBC-U 2.0) and stick Countdown on. From a financial standpoint, it would be much cheaper to produce than a fakeality show and from a viewer's point of view it is actually a watchable television program that isn't fakelaity smeg.

NBC would be better off getting rid of Olbermann altogether. They should get the opinion shows off of
MSNBC and turn it back over to real journalists, not commentating blowhards like Olbermann, Abrams and Scarborough.

I'm sure MSNBC would consider that as soon as O'Rielly and the other Fox Blowhards take a hike.

I"m a big fan of Countdown and I think its great NBC is giving it a try on Sunday night.

I'd love it if O'Reilly and Olbermann could just be put in a cage and tossed overboard at sea somewhere.

The good news for all of us is that Olbermann's show on NBC tanked in the ratings on Sunday night. I doubt they'll be in a big hurry to bring
him back for another round of "Countdown."

A cable show that usually draws well over half a million viewers nightly, got a Sunday night clearance on network television and attracted four million viewers:

Not groundbreaking numbers by any means for network TV, but for an occasional weekend special (hopefully), not bad at all.

No, those numbers are pretty bad for network TV. It doesn't matter if its an occasional special or much higher than what he gets on cable, those numbers won't win him any fans at NBC. This was just a foolish move on NBC's part. If you're going to run this show, why run it opposite 60 Minutes? Why run it before football? Why run this blowhard at all? Fox learned their lesson with Bill O'Reilly a few years ago. You won't be seeing him back on the Fox network anytime soon.
