Country 1520 WKNT in Kent

Does anyone have any idea what ever happened to Jerry Goddard and Bob Roberts who worked at County 1520 WKNT in Kent? I worked with them from 1981 to 1983. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Not a clue....did WKNT really have local people on the air?
FYI, I live about five miles from 1520 and the signal is non-existant here due to the severe directional signal.

It always was astonishing to me that Kent and Canton EACH got a station on 1520.

This has got to be the shortest-spaced two AMs in America.

There are parts of Akron where I hear both stations right on top of each other.

Surprised that the old Kaiser didn't buy out Canton by now.

I'm a bit surprised too, although Kaiser Bill hasn't shown any proclivity to pump any money into the AM station in years. If you combined WINW and WJMP you I'd think you'd get a decent signal over both Akron and Canton..... and with a not so critical pattern, KB might be able to do away with one, two, or even three of those six towers and sell off some real estate. I would also think that you might be able to get at least some flea power at night out of such an operation. Even a broader pattern would keep you away from both WWKB and WDMN.

I worked for Kaiser Bill back in the early 1980's. WKNT had all local jocks. And speaking of the Kaiser's legendary cheapness. He never had an emergency back-up generator for either WKNT or WNIR and he still doesn't. From what I heard, he just recently had the driveway to the station paved.

Not too many stations outside the major markets have backup gennies. In fact, until WTAM moved out to Independence in '02 they never had a backup at the studio (but they did at the tranny), although they did have redundant power feeds on West 9th.... one from CPP and the other from CEI. However this was not enough when there was a small fire in the basement which put both feeds out of commission for a short while.
