Country 92.5 off the air earlier tonight

I left my mom's house at 10:09PM. I flipped on Country 92.5 and they were completely off the air. I left my radio on 92.5 and they came back on at 10:15PM. Anyone know what happened or how long they were off the air? This wasn't one of those Clear Channel automation screw ups mentioned in other threads. They were actually off the air as if someone had turned their transmitter off. When they came back it was like someone turned the transmitter back on. Out of the static the signal returned in stereo in the middle of a song I believe from the CMT Countdown.

These types of things happen all the time. Stations briefly go off the air for a couple minutes and come back on. Sometimes, the TX site needs a repair here and there....sometimes, power gets lost. Why does this get it's own thread?

Was the stereo exciter on or off?

Was the stereo light on or off on your stereo?

If the exciter &/or the stereo light is on & they're off the air & not broadcasting or transmitting, the xmtr is still technically on.

The stereo indicator on my car radio was off. It came back on when the station came back on. I only happened to notice because I had to slow down for a flashing traffic light.

Adam, where should I post it? In the other thread about whether or not CC is killing WKCI?

I think Adam's point was that sometimes radio "technical difficulties" are so routine, they may not be worth posting about... and if that's the case, then there's a few threads about Kool 101 technical issues that I'd like to have back... ::)

I have to agree."technical difficulties" sounds good as Adam said.As I posted The River 105.9's Automation bugs weeks ago.Maybe in the Engineering thread. But that wont work out because of we here in Connecticut would not care if a station in Las Angelas had a hipcup or the people in LA would not give a crap if a Connecticut stations sound like a tin can.I'm surprised that Country 92.5 had any problems.they are good for not having any down time.

My point was that if we had a post for every time a station was off for 10 minutes, that's all this board with be...it's fairly routine these days, unfortunately, because of the automated nature of our business.

I would love to see some great radio discussion in this board again. People doing good things in CT radio, people that are entertaining, companies that are spending money and putting a great product on the air. They exist - why focus on all the negatives of off-air, and this station sucks, blah blah blah? There may not be many, but there are still some good things happening in Connecticut radio, that really serve communities and advertisers alike.

Adam's absolutely right. I would add that technical glitches didn't start with the arrival of computers and consolidation. For all the legendary old radio we rightfully remember, much of it was far from flawless when everything was live or off automated tape reels and carousels. Through all the changes, it's amazing what many CT radio people accomplish these days.

Will I have to agree with GlennO and Adam.their right on the money.I apologize to all of you with the crap I did post in the past on here about whinning and crying about the technical problems the local TV and Radio stations.I have to realize it's not 1970's anymore with turntables, cart machines ,Reel to Reel recorders,VTR's at tv stations and teletype machines clacking away in the news room. Like just said It's a automated computer world in radio.
