Country fans, can you accept THIS on NASH?

IKYWT & EHC werent really released to county radio.

During the IKYWT run country was playing "begin again" & now during EHC country is playing "red".

My point is that country does play crossovers.

But as you say, NOT songs that weren't released to them. And this song in the OP hasn't been released to them. So they won't play this song.

Bottom line: if you are the only game in town -- and NASH IS -- then you can do pretty much anything you want. If you are a country listener and get "offended" (as one person suggested) you'll still keep listening. You have no other choice. Or just turn off your radio.

"You have no other choice."

Actually turning off the radio IS a choice, which programmers try to keep from happening by avoiding music not right for the format.

Off to a good start so far on pop debuting #33 on next weeks billboard mainstream top 40 & is the 3rd biggest weekly spin gainer behind katy perry & lana del ray.

Yes but he was talking crossover artists not just songs thats why i mentioned kelly clarkson.

Evolution has been playing this for a few months now. It's crossovers like these that can further open the doors for dance on CHR. The vocals are country which can help this track in the "heartland" but dance music is defined by the beat. So ultimately it will be labeled as dance.

Is it a crossover? Has it been getting airplay anywhere other than niche format outlets, such as Evolution?
If it gets picked up by country or mainstream CHR, then I'd say it's a crossover.

It will NOT get "picked up" by country. As I've said, that's not how country stations work.

I understand that. I was just questioning the "crossover" characterization.

This has got to be one of the most far-fetched suggestions I've ever heard.

Told you guys I was going places with this one :D It definitely got a rouse out of some of you :)

I guess that this song didn't fit on country station, because it's too upbeat and never seem to fit the station, it should belong on KTU or Z100, but on one of those HV country stations like WRWD or "The Wolf" or in Danbury, Connecticut's "Kicks 105.5".

It won't get played on country stations because it's not being pitched to them. It has nothing to do with the song or if it's upbeat.

Country stations aren't looking outside the format for music, because they have more than enough to play from within.

The song, has as much chance getting on ANY country format station as Trace Adkins does at getting on WBLS or WKTU... A record duck would get thrown out of the station for wasting the MD's time and for NOT knowing the market/format he's pitching.

The Avicii song mentioned is also getting airplay on a handful of alternative and AAA outlets. It does have a late-'80s post-new wave feel to it, kind of like the Pet Shop Boys. Definitely does not belong on country though.

I don't accept Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow on Nash right now. Kid Rock is the white trash anthem. Sheryl Crow is pop/folk.

Cheryl signed a deal with Sony Nashville and is recording a Country album there at this very moment. It's out on 9/10.

So, what if Avicii's label recut this song without the edm beat/feel and smoothed it out a bit? Maybe add some acoustic guitar or ukulele? Is the beat/feel all that's keeping this un-country? I like the feel of the vocals and it definitely tells a story, which is very Country....

I'm so confused.. This is like asking if the new Katy Perry will be picked up on NASH.. No, it's not the Format. This is EDM.. Because it has an acoustic guitar it somehow is country?

It's EDM!

EDM!

Which isn't Country.
