I am surprised that Kicks Country has not picked up this show. It was billed as Atlanta`s longest running radio show. However, I think that Ike Newkirk on WQXI-AM 790 holds this honor. Will Kicks pick up this show? Kicks is owned by the same owners of the former Eagle 106.7. Actually, Country Gold Saturday Night was on Kicks from the early 1980`s- about 1999, when it moved to Y 106 (which was soon changed to the Eagle 106.7).
 
Hey, Clark Kent....... Read MOREclosely!!! I am talking about Country Gold/Saturday Night that has been a very long running radio show in Atlanta. Do you have any info. about it?? You comment added nothing to this discussion. There are many who would love to hear this show back on Kicks!
 
I'm not adding to this discussion because there's nothing to discuss. If the management at Kicks wanted to put that show back on, they'd be doing it. Kicks' focus is toward newer country anyway.

And how can someone read more closely when there's nothing of substance to read? I stand by my earlier statement. You're posting just to post.
 
My dear man, Mr. Kent!!!!!!!!!! I am posting here with great discussion! Do you know the long history of Country Gold Saturday Night in Atlanta????????? In 1999, it was so popular that they added it to Sunday Nights! Alot of people would love to hear it again in Atlanta!

Yes, I would like to hear Country Gold on Kicks. Do I think it'll happen? Not with Kicks' "urbane country" format. WNGC already has such a show.

Maybe we'll get Legend on 105.3 before it's over...105.3 seems to be CC's version of AAA (as in baseball, not Adult Album Alt) in ATL, and 96.7 is rookie league or single A.
 
Can I go ahead and make an early request for 105.3??? I would love to hear "redneck Love Making Night" by Conway Twitty!

Maybe Citadel will read this thread and make an LMA with ABC to re-launch Country Gold on it's new frequency: AM590 Radio Disney.

And buy Teresa Prieto's 610 calls and put WPLO back on 590.

Won't ever happen...the Mouse makes too much money (or at least a great ROI for how little they spend) with Radio Disney.
 
Kicks is not intrested in bringing back Country Gold Saturday and Sunday night,it doesn't fit in with their target demo. It was 2000 not 1999 when Y 106 changed to Eagle,I remember it was September 1st,2000,the Friday before Labor Day at three o'clock in the afternoon. That mornig I went to work it was still Y106,Rhubarb said that morning on the radio that changes were going to happen then when I got off work the had flipped the switch and became Eagle. Then I flipped over to Kicks and Cadilliac Jack was back on there. If you're like me you remember when Mack Berry hosted it back in the day.
 
I do think that Kicks should bring back Country Gold Saturday and Sunday Nights- I hear that South 107 out of Rome is running it? Is this true?

Dunno about South 107, but WNGC 106.1 does a similar show on Saturday night.

South107 has been carrying Country Gold Saturday Night since 1989 live from Westwood One, 7p - Mid.
