Country Legends 100.7 is no more

I don't see a new website or Facebook page yet. As for the format, I'm no authority on country, but the music sounds more modern, while maintaining a similar "twang."

A sweeper at least partly knocking their own sister station sums it up pretty well: "Tired of hearing the same Top 40 pop country? Keep it right here for the good stuff."

Sure enough..its Country 100.7 wow this should be interesting...they also have current country stars on their banner on their website.

Surprised by this move by TR. But it must not have worked. The goal was probably to try and take the top end of the demo away from his competitor, and help push Gator Country. And perhaps they had problems selling the demo.

The other side of this, I feel they only did a decent job with Country Legends 100.7. Never had live air talent, and wasn't promoted much.

But it did have decent ratings, so still surprised. It sure opens up a nice format hole.

Agreed. Stick was in the right place for that format too. Great coverage of Northside, Oceanway, Westside and Nassau County (sans Amelia Island, perhaps) where that format, one would assume, would do well. But, as you pointed our, 1250, something wasn't adding up for them (pun intended)

While I've still heard some gold titles (Connie Smith etc), its not going to satisfy the audience that were P1's of the station.

Its been interesting reading the angry comments of former 100.7 listeners, as they try to move them over to their new FB site. People aren't happy!

Just my two cents. And I worked for TR for almost ten years. It had to be a ratings, demo and sales issue. However, and I live the classic country format. Specialize in it. They could have eased in the Kenny Chesney's, Tim McGraw's, Brad Paisley's etc. without blowing the whole legends concept up. Those artists deserve to be played, and our played on my classic country stations. www.catcountry.org with our stations in the mid-west. And more joining out network soon!

I'm currently in Jacksonville for business and just noticed 100.7 calling itself "100.7 The Bull." One liner said "South Georgia's big old bull." Not sure if it just started at midnight, as this is the first I've listened to them. Are they really going to now focus on GA instead of Jacksonville?

I can't listen from where I am, but their site still says "Country 100.7"

It wouldn't be that hard to believe a country station would pick up a significant number of listeners Waycross Georgia or Jesup the road from Jacksonville.

Yeah, I'm a born comedian. :)

The focus will be away from Jax and now South Georgia. Probably a good move. Brunswick is a rated market, and this station could own it.

I heard a "Jax Beach" liner this evening. The Bull is just marking its territory. Reminds me of when Big 106.5 had the satellite jocks drop a bunch of local places: "Here's one for Orange Park!" Why not?

1250 says >>>Brunswick is a rated market, and this station could own it. <<<

Well, I don't think the advertising revenue in Brunswick warrents this move. I'd rather have a small part of the advertising revenue of Market #49 - Jacksonville than a large part of Market #281 - Brunswick.

WSOL 101.5 is also licensed to Brunswick but is #4 in the Jacksonville ratings. Doesn't make sense for WMUV to settle for less.
