When is someone going to compete with Cumulus's's two country stations? Their is definitley room to compete with The Wolf and KSCS. My choice would be to flip 105.3 The Fan to country as they currently are CBS Dallas worst of the bunch. CBS knows how to program the format successfully. Need to hurry before Clear Channel which im surprised hasn't already.
I was shocked when CC did not pull the trigger on "97.1 The Bull" as was widely rumored a few years back. The timing for a fresh, new country station was really right back then...
If you knew how well 105.3 The Fan is billing, you wouldn't want to flip it. From what I've been told, it's almost always the #2 or #3 biller in the cluster despite its lackluster ratings.
Sports radio has the second highest power ratio in the industry behind all news because it reaches the 25-54 male audience better than anything on the market today and it has twice the avails of music formats.
I was kinda surprised KEGL didn't flip almost two years ago, too. I guess it continues to limp along due to fear on the part of Clear Channel that someone else will try to break up its wall of rock if they were to flip it.
CBS is big into the Sports Radio now. DO NOT look for "The Fan" to change to Country. I would look for Clear Channel to do it before CBS unless 107.5 is underperforming with Spanish.
True CBS is big with sports currently. With regarding 107.5 didn't CBS want to take it pop with the Amp name a few years ago? Maybe country their. As for Clear Channel wouldn't they had done country by now.

What ARE you talking about? There are so many country rim shot stations around Dallas it seems like it and Spanish language are the "default formats" for stations in the area. The very last thing Dallas needs is yet another country station!

While ratings are important, the most important number is the bottom line. CBS does quite well in Dallas with 105.3 The Fan in that regard. As rbrucecarter5 also mentioned there are a large number of rimshot FM signals running country now. The higher rated of the rimshots are "The Ranch" and "The Range".
The break point historically in Dallas for high power Cedar Hill sticks running country is 3 max. This was back when Young Country, K-PLeX, and KSCS were fighting it out in the 90's. When 96.7 The Twister hit the air after Young Country dropped the format, the market reaction was a "Yawn" and Twister never gained any traction beyond a low 1 share despite having one of the better northern rimshot signals. So right now, 99.5 and 96.3 are all I'd expect unless there is a major shift in available audience.
I'm not sure how 103.3 does, but The Ticket bills extremely well. From what I've heard, the billing hasn't declined much, if any, since 105.3 signed on. The Ticket used to always be a top-5 biller in spite of its low ratings. I seem to remember it being the second higher biller in the market 8-10 years ago.
