Country stations

Define 'good'.

KPLX has been a Marconi nominee, a CMA station of the year winner, etc in the last few years. KSCS had some of the same kindo things in years past...

If you don't think they're good, more power to ya, but read the trades, they're looked up to around teh country still...

It all depends what you call "country". "POP" country is on the Wolf and KSCS. "Americana" country is on KHYI,"Classic Country" is on kTFW and "Cowboy 1190".

Then I guess
95.9 The Ranch
KTFW
95.3 The Range
Cowboy 1190 (YEE-HAW!!!!)
KBEC (though it's not an DFW station)
BTW...you forgot about 96.7 "The Texas Twister".

I always enjoyed listening to the stations in Dallas, I guess I like the Wolf, but KSCS is pretty good too. I really haven't listened to the Twister long enough to form an opinion, I like Jeremy on the air and thought he should have been the night guy on the Wolf. I've never been a Cody Allen fan, Amy B. is funny in small quantities, annoying all day. I can't believe they hired Mr. Ed. He sounds too old for that station. Just my opinion.

I'm always kinda surprised when KHYI and and KTFW never show up AT ALL in the ratings. Is that a lil Arbitron politics???? I know people are aware of those stations...

Typically KHYI has always pulled .5-.7 shares until the idiot that owns the station started to fire one good talent after another. The latest being Nadine Bodett. The owner and his son and comittee program the station now. As a result they have 0.0. Texas music or Americana is not as popular as some think it is. The only real succesful one being KVET-FM Austin. Cowboy 1190 and KTFW play a good mix of Classic HIT country. KHYI and the Ranch are all over the place musically. Not a whole lot of familiar music except for a few 18-25 year old goat ropers west of Ft.Worth.

Damn, sorry to hear about Nadine. I guess she has either 1190 or The Wolf left in this market.

I'm sorry too. It's been a tough go for Nadine in the past few years, but hopefully she can rebound quickly. Maybe she's really not locked into country; I've heard her do soft AC, classic rock and smooth jazz, and she's a lot more versatile than many people might realize. Remember also that she was at KVIL for a while shortly after moving from Houston back in the '90's, when the station was still listenable and before she adopted the Nadine persona.

Yep. It's a shame. I know Nadine very well and she has moved out of DFW to a small town between SA and Houston. She does her voicework there.
