KNDA don't even have a website, much less a stream.

I think KNDA is sort of a cool station. It does sound low-budget but it is neat that Corpus has a station that reports to the trades as an urban though it is too hard-core rap-heavy for me (I am aging out of the demographic). I wish they had a few more softer r and b tunes and a few syndicated shows like Big Boy or a weekend urban countdown show would be nice. I like the new liners (past 3 or 4 months) on the station much better than the worn out old ones.

They do alot of live broadcasts from local clubs (which I think is probably their main source of revenue since they don't seem to run that many ads). However, when I listen to these live broadcasts I don't think I hear mixes but songs from the normal rap heavy rotation with some current r and b cuts thrown in. On Friday night it is softer r and b/ and r and b oldies which really stands out on the station. They also seem to be DJ-less much of the time, but I often find myself surprised at certain times when I actually do a hear a real DJ.

They do have a powerful signal on the Southside of Corpus Christi and out to Alice, it is too bad they don't have a website or stream.

-Mark

So this station is basically a jukebox, (ipod if you're young)? It sounds like this station is just basically on with no effort to be competitive. Thats pitiful.

I think KNDA is okay, better than not having a station in the Urban format but I certainly don't think much money is being put into it. I suspect a primary source of revenue is from the live broadcasts from clubs and constant ads for concerts at these same local clubs.

A radio station depending on clubs is a station in trouble.
Clubs close all the time.
And it puts the station in the position of promoting drinking in the form of drink specials to help the club's bottom line.

I'm surprised this station has lasted as long as it has.

Last time, CC ratings were not embargoed (about 3 years ago), they actually didn't too badly.

KNDA is leased from Carne Guerra. The guy that runs it owns Club Hypnotic. He uses the radio station to promote the club. He knows absolutely nothing about radio and doesn't really care about it. I think his son is the PD. The biggest revenue stream is from indie record promoters. That dictates the playlist.

I knew there must be a connection to that club the way it is hyped on the station.

KNDA does have a playlist a bit different from your typical cookie cutter churban or urban station for that matter.

Again, I think the format variety it adds to CC is a nice addition.

On another note, I do think KZFM still stands out as one of the better churbans out there. And they are one of the few stations that plays a fair amount of dance music in weekend mixes.

Back to the topic of streaming. Corpus is one of my favorite cities and I visit the area every year. (I would love to live there someday).

With that said, and being a radio geek, I sure wish more Corpus stations would stream. I would especially love to be able to listen online to KLTG "the Beach 96.5" and KKBA "92.7 K-Bay". Does anyone know if either of these companies (Tejas or Malkan) ever plan on streaming their stations? I especially love the rhythmic lean that "K-Bay" has taken with their AC format. Normally, I wouldn't have thought I would have liked that approach, but the last couple of times I've been in Corpus, I find myself listening to them for hours. The rhythmic AC lean just seems like the perfect blend of music to put on when cruising around the beautiful Coastal Bend area and I would actually say that overall, I think "K-Bay" is the best sounding station in Corpus. Anyway, hopefully Malkan will put K-Bay and sister Z95 online at some point. Anyone have any info on whether Malkan or Tejas might ever stream their clusters?

I agree that KKBA and Z-95 are stand out stations. I think Z-95 is one of the most interesting sounding (non-cookie cutter) churbans in Texas. K-Bay also sounds really good much of the time when Delilah is not on. With the number of CC streamers increasing (see KMXR, KSAB and KKPN in the past few months) maybe some of the other radio groups will eventually get the message.

Add country KOUL to the list of Corpus streamers

Remaining holdouts:

Z-95
KBAY
The Beach
Club 98.3

Yeah, I noticed KOUL was streaming the other day. I immediately went to their sister station KLTG "the Beach" in hopes that they were streaming now too, but no luck. Kinda funny that they would only stream KOUL and not all their stations. Anyway, I'm hoping "the Beach" will be streaming shortly. But what I REALLY want is for Malkan to start streaming so I can listen to KKBA "K-Bay". I love that station and its unique rhythmic take on AC.
