Couric Leaving CBS Early

Even though it is reported that her contract expires in June, Katie Couric is departing as the lead anchor of the CBS news this month.

I'm curious if she lobbied to leave early or was it CBS executives who wanted her out in order to resuscitate the network's sagging ratings?
 
My guess is that it was a mutual decision. Couric wanted out and CBS wanted her gone.

I don't believe the rumors that Couric will end up back on The Today Show considering that Ann Curry has already been named to replace Meredith Viera (sp).
 
Last broadcast is reported to be this Thursday.

You know you're unwanted when they don't want you around at the end of the sweeps period. (And don't give me all this jive about "stealing Oprah's thunder" on May 25.)

The sooner the better.

Did anyone see the commercial where Ann Curry said she was sorry Ellen was going off the air and ellen had to explain she's not Oprah.
