Coverage of Art Modell's death

I tuned into WKNR and I think their coverage has been great. Having Tony Grossi on their payroll is paying divends. Great commnetary and persepective.

I have not listended to the Fan, has anyone.

Booms called off work today because his dog was ill. So you had Jeff Thomas filling in for Booms and basically they played ding dong the witch is dead and a bunch of fans telling him to rot in hell, and saying they will vandalize his hall of fame statue, urinating on his statue, and crap on his grave. So yes WKNR coverage is far better at this point. I figured this would happen if Booms was there because he revels in potty humor.

I was listening to the last half-hour of Baskin and Phelps and the first fifteen minutes of Bull and Fox on The Fan.

There were callers who had varied opinions from "Modell should be in the Hall of Fame" to "No need for a moment of silence." Some of the hosts I listened (especially Fox) weren't too crazy of the "dancing on the grave" moment, but also they didn't want outsiders telling fans "to let it go" or "deal with it." (I apologize if I misspoke of what I heard on the station. Feel free to correct me.)

It was more calmed compared to the morning show, so I thought from what I heard was pretty good.

I think WKNR had beeter radio today. Rizzo had Tony Grossi on for a while during his show and the insight they have was great. I turned on the Fan for the Bull and Fox show and I didn't get much from them. The Bull was not here when Modell moved the team and Fox didn't offer much.

In '95, Fox was probably in Jr. High, not even old enough yet to eventually attend Canton Glen Oak, so his memories were a little fuzzy. Baskin and Phelps did a good job with the story today as did Rizzo and Grossi.

RBS can be a solid show when Rizz talks to grown-ups and Hammer stays in the background.

Rizzo had Grossi on from 10 until 11 commercial free-Grossi was great-the best thing to happen to KNR-when big news happens, Rizzo and Hammer can be very good-I still flip back and forth, and RBS can drive me nuts a lot, but when big news happens, I keep them on over 92.3.

Props to Hammer for knowing his role yesterday and not saying much. Nothing he could really add. This was one of those topics where you needed local hosts/guests who grew up in Cleveland.

I turned over to Triv in the afternoon and he replayed the entire interview he had with Modell from a few years ago. I thought it was perfect.

When Rizzo does pregame shows and the yearly preview and review shows he actually shines. That is where he is best. Sort of like a point guard in basketball distributing the ball. I like listening to the Browns pregame shows with Rizzo and Jerrod Cherry. All the nonsense with the Really Big Show such as bells ringing, the sound effects I can do without.

The pregame show is primarily nuts and bolts sports, so there's no place for the other junk.

RBS is more of a mancave show, which lends itself to more silliness (and more Hammer).
