Yesterday marked the three year anniversary of the Granite Mountain
19 who perished while fighting a fire in Yarnell, AZ. While I cannot
speak for every newscast during the morning, afternoon and evening,
there were some interesting differences. KTVK offered up remotes from
Yarnell and concluded each news segment with a 30/60 second collage
of the lost firefighters, in silence. KPHO pretty much followed the same
but without the photographic tributes. KSAZ offered up remotes as well
as background information. KPNX possibly offered up the least coverage,
instead choosing to focus on Olympics. KNXV offered up remotes from
both Yarnell and Prescott Valley where there was a large memorial
service attended by local and state dignitaries and the public. Spanish
language stations, KFPH and KTVW pretty much offered no coverage at all.
