Mention was made of this on the Memphis board, and I thought it should go here, too.
First, I didn't hear any radio coverage from Jackson about the storms except early on when EAS took over on 92. (Still love the music there)
But, it should be mentioned here, too. I live in an area served by both the Memphis TV stations AND WBBJ-TV in Jackson.
I, being concerned about the weather after once going through a tornado, flipped between all of them.
I guess I was looking for better technology whilst watching Memphis stations, and looking for something a tad closer by peeking at the Jackson station.
While I suppose that technically, the Memphis stations, with their superior budgets would have an advantage, it seemed to me that I got just as much and as accurate information from WBBJ as I did from any of the Memphis stations.
There was what seemed to be the "Dave Brown" guy named Gary something, and another guy helping. (Just like the set-ups on the larger stations in Memphis.
The Jackson coverage included some live shots from in and around Union and more.
I couldn't help but notice they were hanging with the big boys.
When I lived in Jackson many years ago...I wouldn't hesitate to make fun of something WBBJ TV did (even though my wife worked there AND i used to pick up a little v/o change),
So I also didn't want to let it slide when I saw something positive!
;D
