Reggie Bates was a true star of the Mississippi Coast - well known as a singer, songwriter and radio personality on WLOX in Ocean Springs. Tragically, Bates lost his battle with COVID-19 after 43 years as a radio broadcaster.

"The best thing is can say right now is Reggie Bates was a true leader," said fellow musician and former co-worker Scott Stradtner. "And those are hard to come by these days." Stradtner added, "We had an affinity for funny songs and it was not uncommon to be in a stressful or public situation, and Reggie would just come out and start telling corny joke after corny joke."
