What's your source? Is it reliable??

The deal was completed yesterday.

Can't name sources.

Reliable?

Yes.

Contrary to spin. Fitzhugh wanted the rights.

Jerry Jones played them.

An embarrassed Joel Hollander sent word to Infinity/Dallas that HE had walked away from the table.

Better sources say the table was pulled out from under his elbows.

Bottom line. More cash flow exits Infinity. Stock outlook. Slightly worse than three days ago.

A one year deal at KZPS tells me Jerry is looking for something else long-term.
MAYBE his own station.. maybe not.

Would Jerry dare go with XM or Sirius?

Just a thought.

You can already hear the entire NFL on Sirius. I listened to Cowboys games on it and it was our local folks, Mr. Sham and Babe right? Usually you could listen to coverage from either side, home or away per game, each has it's own channel :)
Edited by julesism on 01/14/06 08:54 PM.

This has been in the works for a long time with CC.
Part of the reason why they flipped 97.1 to La Pres and not ZPS.

It all boils down to greedy s-o-b's on either side of the table. As usual, everyone loses.

That's the only Cedar Hill stick he could afford.
The politics associated with buying WRR make it impossible.

It's a one-year deal and then the Cowboys are going to take it in-house.

Same thing was going to happen if they stayed with Infinity.

Ya know-- this almost makes a little bit of sense when you think about it...

WHAT IF-- Jerry and Co. bought 1190-- (now hold on before you blow a fuse about night time power for those Monday Night Games and shows)... and was able to purchase other FMs to do the same thing that 1310 has done-- and piggy back the station so it has a better signal at night time.. lets face it 1190 Day Time Power (if fixed) would carry him close to 180 mile radius (give or take a few miles) for a Day Time Signal for Sunday Games-- and for his weekly shows!

Now thats not too say that along with 1190-- he was able to pick up some stations out on the fringe that could be a part of a Network of stations to air his shows and games...

He could probably get 1190 for the right price, but he couldn't get the rim shot FMs for a decent price.

He'll need a full C at Cedar Hill or one of the big AMs to make this work.

I haven't read much about WBAP figuring in ... why can't anything be worked out between them and the Cowboys (not to the point of Jones buying the station, of course)? Seems a good mix, Dallas' team on one of the nation's biggest sticks.

Nah, WBAP's in the middle of the proposed ABC Radio sale. No chance of them spending $8 mil when they're trying to inflate and protect the bottom line.

You're drunk, that was the worst item on the bottom line. Infinity was losing millions on that deal. They would only offer a fee that they could turn a profit with. CC did the same, they just feel a little more optimistic. Good luck to them, starting over with a new sales department on a sports franchise is TOUGH!

Infinity is upset they couldn't close a deal that would keep the cash flow while avoiding the millions in losses.

That's a fact.

When Infinity sees the CC deal, they will be sick. It's not a deal Infinity would have had a problem with.

Jerry Jones played them.

Regardless, Infinity is better off without that noose around their neck. Maybe a deal like CC got would be a boost, if so congrats to them. Everbody gets played by Jerry Jones.

He will take this over and do it himself, he hates for anyone to make money off of his product.

Jones gave Infinity the opportunity to match the deal and they walked.

This conversation was about a one-year stopgap to give the Cowboys some time to get their act together and take it in-house next year.
______________
