Cowboys Radio Broadcast..

anyone catch this last nite...

Joe Avezzano sat in with Brad Sham this week.. ... goodness..

i realize the Ticket is still wet behind the ears in this thing, but there seem to be quite a few gaffes.

lots of returns with joe and brad talking and not knowing they were on the air..
not sure who was on the switch but, it wasn't smooth at all..

Charlie Waters will be full time on the broadcast this fall, but will only do two pre-season games..( smart man)

another thing, i noticed Babe Laufenberg on the Ch. 11 broadcast Saturday nite.
he said he left the Cowboys' broadcast to spend more time with his family..

is it possible that the Cowboys really didn't want Babe back and let him resign with dignity?
just a thought.

Oh, how I love a good conspiracy theory.

But the game you watched on Ch. 11 was owned and produced by the Cowboys. And Babe was their choice for color. I bet they were sorry he decided to leave radio.

One thing I've noticed about this place, most of the posters don't let pesky things like 'facts' get in the way of their opinions...

My problem with the broadcast was the really bad sounding studio mikes. Brad sounded okay, however I assume that they were using ticket mikes which were adjusted to sound good on AM. Did anyone else notice that?

I can say that I enjoyed the radio sound level mix a way lot more than I did the TV mix. The TV mix was just awful ! The TV sound for the "announcers" was just riding way to much over the "sound" of the game !

My hope for the future of sports coverage in this mutli-channel Digital age, is the ability for the fan watching and listening, to chose an "alternate" reception for the game. IE, how about this..... Just the faithfully reproduced sounds of the game that you would hear sitting inside the stadium.... without any radio or TV broadcasters commentary or coverage ! ! And, with that, the choice of the sports fan to select to watch the sporting event from say a wide angle shot, or a shot that focuses on the Quarterback, or a favorite running back, etc....

What I'm saying is that I want the power to hear and watch the game remotely according to what interests me.... And not what John Madden, or anyone else thinks that I might find "interesting".

I actually find "the game" entertaining enough. I never did need the "extra" entertainment! I'd like the option to "Opt Out" of this extra entertainment, and the ability to just hear and see the game, broadcast. Can I pay $10 more to see and hear that ?

BTY, I am not, nor ever have been a Brad Sham fan. As an announcer, I do not care for his voice, or his style, or the way he comments on my beloved Cowboys..

Being blind, it's almost impossible for me to listen to tv games. It seems that they all crank the croud up as loud as they can and have the announcers under the croud. Does anyone know why they do that? At least on the radio the croud is under the announcers where they belong.

Gordon,

That is a NATURAL prersentation of the way you would hear it if you were their in the stadium. Been done that way for decades, but who knows with the way today's engineers process sound... Let's jack up the announcers mikes and lower the crowd noise add a bunch of bass because some nit-wit engineer thinks it sounds just like his hip hop station.

Help me here.

I always think Sham is actually watching the TV monitor when he does play by play and sometimes forgets we are not...or at least some of us are driving around listening to the game....

Do me a favor and check that out...he'll delay telling you a catch was made because it was so obvious on the monitor, or gaining a first down...
maybe it's my imagination...but I end up screaming at the radio.."DID HE MAKE THE FIRST DOWN!!!"

Or am I crazy?
