Cowhead do something wrong?

While there are no further details available, ALL ACCESS has confirmed that CLEAR CHANNEL Active Rocker WXTB (98 ROCK)/TAMPA PD BRIAN MEDLIN, morning man COWHEAD, and other members of the morning show have been suspended for content that aired on the show. No word on if they are returning, or when. More details, soon.

Did the "F" bomb slip ups catch up to these guys? Or did something else happen? I thought it was odd to hear Riggie and Killebrew doing mornings this week. <P ID="signature">______________

I sure hope he gets a golden ticket. Put Cow on Extreme 152 in AM and PM drive and Ron-n-Fez in Middays and nights and re-run the Monsters late nights. Leave 202 O&A 24-7.

cowhead response on wackbag.com

I am not on vacation, nor does my station (WXTB 98ROCK Tampa) have any cruise this week or at all.

It is for material that aired on my show that is questionable. I don't want to say anymore because there is a good chance that I will be fired this week, and I would rather not say anything that will contribute to that.

I assure you, this is no hokey zoo crew nut hut attempt at getting publicity. I am home with my pregnant wife trying to see if we can get the $10grand we put down on our new house back.

most of the cowhead stuff has disappeared from the 98rock website as of right now. the only mention of him is in the jox page, and the link from there to the cowhead show site is gone. uh oh.

202 does not need to be O&A 24/7...never heard Cowhead but as an XM shareholder I hope they don't spend big bucks for a large market local talent. Oprah was bad enough.

I respectfully disagree. Having O&A on 202 24-7 would be a great way to help new subs get into the show...learn the lingo...get to know the guys. Worst-of bits could fill 11a-4p and a re-run of the days show from 4-mid (in the east) would also allow west coasters to have more access to the show.

O&A cross promoting the other shows (Ron-N-Fez, Cowhead) on 152 would give more exposure to the other talent in XM's employ.

And Cowhead is working in Tampa (not for long)...he can't be making that much $$. He has a great show and would fit XM well.

That's just my opinion, I could be worng.

Cowhead could do a podcast..hint hint...I would be his first subscriber.

I've never met Mike, but I really like the guy. Sadly, he's an employee that is getting his oats stomped on, maybe for pushing the envelope before there was an envelope to push..Perhaps he jumped a little too far trying to over do it..Maybe that's what he thought his PD and his managers wanted..Surely they didn't sit him down at his initial meetings and tell him to "dummy up and play the hits" did they?

A station like 98 Rock, that has had a colorful hostory to say the very least (Why, I remember when it was Shering/Plough's WQXM..Beautiful music) they wouldn't instruct a new morning talent to "tone it down, and be really careful not to make anyone angry" would they?

That sort of pre-employment "pep-talk" should be reserved for Dick Ring.

(Jeezamama..I typed "Dick Ring"..aaa..HAAAhhh!)

XM wouldn't be a bad place either, but there is a lot of competition out here to get those "plum" jobs on Satellite radio..and not all of them will build you a studio and pay big six-figure/seven-figure salaries..especially XM since they blew thier allowance on Oprah!

BTW what do you figure Bubba is "really" making for his Sirius years? More than a million? Plus stock, plus bonuses and allotments for producers, and publicity folks.

Sirius is great, he's great, everything is great!

Nurse..A round of pills for the house!

and people used to say bubbas dad owned clear channel?

i too noticed cowheads myspace site was changed (plain looking). what i also noticed is phattys is still up and still has the 98rock logo on it. it "appears" that this guy will once again be spared the axe. not trying to sound jealous, just realistic. i mean anyone who has worked in radio knows that when changes are made people are let go. there have been many BIG changes since bubba and he is still there? and people used to say bubbas dad owned clear channel.
