Cox & ABC6 HD

Why is ABC6 only send out the ABC HD feed when they want too. There pregame started in HD then less then a half hour into it they went back to analog. They tout HD an we dont get it, or only get it when they want to switch over. I saw the picture switch from HD to analog half way during a commercial, and it never went back. Cox or ABC 6 at its best?

I just off the phone with Cox. They said it was a mistake to broadcast the 20 minutes of pregame. They were only allowed to broadcast the game in HD. DOes that make sense to anyone? Whats the difference?

The difference is that the HD feed and the analog feed are on different satellite feeds. What a station typically does is take their main network feed, and "upconvert" it to HD, but when a HD network show is offered, the HD signal switched directly to the HD Satellite receiver.

So the network might tell an affiliate not to carry the HD feed because they are only testing on it or programming matieral not for air until the game time.
So the affilate must take the SD satellite feed.

Well about 4:15pm Cox or ABC6 switched the pregame to HD again.

It's not COX. It is ABC 6. And judging from a post on another board it sounds like ABC must have had a HD problem. As the Rochester ABC HD had issues as well.

COX doesn't do anything to the HD except pass it through to you guys. Its all GIGO.
