Cox and the whole method used to make WSB a leader as AM is dying

KMOX moved "Overnight America" from a true overnight slot to a late evening slot (8p-2a) some time ago. The move means it is frequently pre-empted or shortened by sports, especially during baseball season.

As far as LegalTender's statement about re-allocating, I think it's about 20 years too late. This thread was started about a 50kW AM station which is now merely a repeater of an FM signal in the market. If a 50 kW non-directional AM station can't make it independently, allowing a station on a regional channel to open up its directional pattern won't change things. And frankly, it might make it worse due to worse mutual interference.

Until Limbaugh dies, and Hannity goes, WSB is unlistenable to a lot of people, screw the ratings. Misinformation and inflammation galore.

Overnight America airs 1AM to 3AM (EASTERN):
But its probably just like WSB, exact times move around, depending on surrounding programming.
I listened last night and it was said they have night coverage in 35 states.
Surprised that CBS sold this one as it seems to still be profitable. And most likely, all their real estate is paid off.

All in all, WSB and WWL are excellent AM signals.

Respectfully, WSB is not an "excellent AM signal." It isn't because they do anything wrong. They have a killer transmitter site, great equipment, and it is all very well engineered. But the ground conductivity of Atlanta can't be fixed.

Greg Hahn, I agree with you about poor ground conductivity in Atlanta, and also about excellent engineering and technical facility at WSB. My comment was broadly speaking, in the context of the radio business. That is, in the overall scheme of things, WSB and WWL are fine stations to own.
