COX CABLE CONNECTICUT RAISNING ITS RATES

I can't see why they are raising the limit basic. Nothing is different about them. So in all standard service is going up $3 to $49 in all. Thats for people without the digital box. Why not just make it a even 50. When does AT&T plan to have their cable up in Southington? I saw the line-up and it looks pretty good.

Not sure, but I've seen posts on the message forums on BRISTOLCT.NET and people are complaining that number one not all of Bristol can receive the service from AT&T and number two, the HD is much better from Comcast.

True. Plus at the end of December they moved Turner Classic Movies and The Leased Access Channels (read Jewelry TV and TV SuperStore Infomercials) from Analog to Digital.

I have a relative in Bristol that just got AT&T a couple weeks ago. So far I think he is happy with it. He doesn't have an HDTV so that is not a factor. One interesting thing I noticed is that the AT&T channel lineup in Bristol shows that they carry WNET-13 from NYC and WNJN-50 from Montclair, NJ. I have never seen either of these (especially NJN) carried on any system in central CT.

That's interesting. I know these stations are carried in the southwest and Fairfield County. Maybe AT&T figured they'd offer these stations to everyone in Connecticut in a gesture of good faith. That is, seeing PBS affiliates are less likely to fight the presence of out-of-market stations, compared to the big network affiliates. Just a guess. ???

Good to see they finally moved 43 off of cable channel 8. But the line-up still sucks. Where I moved to we get more channels on regular cable for around the same price. But I know there are more sports networks up there such as NESN, YES, CSN New England. Where here their is only one FSN. Anyways the other channels I get that are on regular cable without digital are;

Speed
The Golf Channel
Vs.
WE.
Style
Lifetime Movie Network
Oxygen
VH-1 Classic
Noggin
Turner Classic Movies

We used to have The Travel Channel on regular but that was moved to digital in replace of two channels Noggin and VH-1 Classic. Also a lot of those channels I really don't watch like the Lifetime channels or Noggin. I watch Speed, Vs., Golf here and there.

As for COX what are they going to do with channels 64, 65, 66, 67. Cox should consider putting four of the channels I said on these channels. I don't see why not. These channels don't cost much Im sure.

Most of the channels being vacated in the analog range are so that more HD and digital channels can be added. So I'm sure the bandwidth from those old channels have already been taken up somewhere else.

I didn't want to start a new topic for this as it deals with the same matter. I like how Cox Cable raised the price but then to only move another channel from regular to digital. MTV 2 back to digital. Why is Cox Cable so expensive when regular cable doesn't go past channel 64, I know channel 70 is TV Land don't know why they skip 65, 66, 67, 68, 69.

What is costing Cox the regional sports networks, the local crap channels Cox has like Cox 3. Where is the money going. It sure sucks to have regular cable from Cox it seems.

Don't feel bad. Comcast in New Britain screws the analog customer. We get nothing on cable channels 3, 14-15, 20-21, 23-24, 37-38, 66-68, 71-94 and 97. ARTS on cable 95 is totally unwatchable and cable 96 has a weak signal. The last time I checked, cable 3 was CN-8 and cable 24 was NECN, which both went to digital. CN-8 New England has closed and my TV's QAM tuner still receives NECN (or at least it did before). All I get for high definition with no converter is QVC-HD, TBS and occasional HD with channels 3, 8, 20, 24, 30, 59 and 61.

Time Warner Cable here in Bangor/DownEast Maine has jacked up rates again too..And they still have not replaced WSBK Boston on Channel 11 with anything; just a wasted blank channel.
