Cox sure needs to do something about their channels 2-16. Not all of them are bad I mean those useless access channels and all. More paid programs on then anything. Channels 14, 15, and 16 for those three I can see the town channel 14 and school channel 16 become one. And channel 15 thats pointless just and with that channel they should just combine it with Cox 3. Now two free channels to add better channels worth watching. I feel sorry for anyone who gets basic cable as all it is is mostly paid programs other then watching CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, PBS, CW, TBS, WCTX 59, Tele, and Univ.

I live in Rhode Island and here is my gripe with COX. Move the Local channels off the same frequency as the On Air frequency. Yes it's Nice to have Channels 6, 10 and 12 designated the same way on the cable lineup. However No matter where I've lived in Rhode Island there is always bleed through inteference where the signal coming off the transmitter is so strong that it interferes with the Cable signal locally and you end up getting lines on the local channels.

It is my understanding that if local channels were allocated to a different frequency on the cable lineup, than this would no longer be a problem to Cable customers. It is not worth Channels 10 and 12 being on Cable 10 and 12 if the end result is going to be a lousy picture with lines in it.

Here in New Britain, CT, Comcast offsets WFSB-TV (CBS) channel 3 of Hartford by placing it on cable channel 2. WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8 of New Haven is on cable channel 8. However, we're far enough away from the Hamden transmitter to where that isn't a problem.

You're right, about the interference clearing up if channels 6/10/12 were carried on other channels on cable.

There *would* be interference to whatever they decided to carry on channels 6/10/12 instead. (there's no way Cox would leave those channels blank)
But since major network affiliates usually have MUCH greater viewership than cable-only channels, there wouldn't be nearly as many viewers affected.

It is my understanding that, in Canada, it is *illegal* to carry any "must-carry" station on a channel occupied by a local over-the-air signal.

Just wait until June 2007 when a third Foreign Language Channel gets added to COX MERIDEN. I really shouldn't say added as it is must carry. WSAH/43 (on COX 8) is going Ethnic June 2007. As much as I dislike all the collectable coins they sell on WSAH, I'd rather watch collectable coins than foreign language programming, unless it's programming like the dance shows they have on Channel 18 with the Hot girls.

I heard on the news today. That verizon will be getting into the cable business soon.
And I think providing those of us who pay for 'cable-tv' some choice is a good thing.
There was a time. About maybe 10-15 years ago. Cox would add a new network to
its line-up. Not anymore. Their reps have told me you need to get digital cable to see that channel.
I have relatives in the NY/NJ area.And they get Speed Channel, Game Show Network for example
on their 'regular cable' line-up. This area needs another cable outlet.

Rhode Island basically only has one Big provider. That is COX. Full Channel cable is available, but only in a few towns. I think Verizon will finally bring some fairness to this market. With COX being the only game in town, they knew they could take advantage of it's customers. I look forward to Verizon entering every town in this State. Unfortunately by the time that happens I may no longer live in the state. We'll see.

The last time I checked, only 3 of the 39 municipalities in RI weren't served by COX Communications. Around here, COX serves Newington, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Manchester, Southington, Meriden, Cheshire and (I think) Glastonbury. Otherwise, New Britain, Berlin, Plainville, Canton, Avon, Simsbury, West Hartford, East Hartford, Bristol, Hartford, New Haven, Middletown, Wallingford, North Haven and Danbury are all Comcast areas.

If they were smart they should Telemundo with the rest of the local channels. Put the shopping
channels next to each other and the sports channels too. Put Versus back in the standard package.

I begged to get DISH Network so I can see WSBK TV38, WWOR, and WPIX. I remember when Cox showed WSBK on Channel 19 and WWOR was on Channel 10 in the mid 90s. If DISH takes these off their line-up, I would go back to Cox Cable.

BTW, when I still had Cox last year, I made a neat, clean, easy to use line-up that I will post soon.

Channel 43 is must carry because of Meriden being in New Haven County. They won't carry WWLP-TV that far south since it's not even on Comcast in New Britain or Hartford. WVIT is licensed to New Britain (West Hartford is their studio). WTXX is licensed to Waterbury. WRDM-LP is now on channel 50. PAX is now I. OK, I'm done nitpicking!
