So is 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 all blank? Don't get why Cox doesn't just move channels down to those numbers.

If you have a cable box 14 is Government Access, 15 is Public Access, and 16 is educational access. Vacant channels are 2, 19, 21, 22, and 23. Without the box on 17 is color bars. (Full screen, not with the blocks at the bottoms) and on 21 is a message that LIN-TV discontinued Cool TV as of July 15th. Also vacant channels are 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, and 69. 70 is TV Land and 96 is TruTV. If you have a box you get more channels 71-92 with a couple vacant spaces.

Cox should moved WGBY to 2 instead.

Then move:
Telemundo - 17 from 20
QVC - 19 from 31
The Weather Channel - 20 from 35
CNN - 21 from 33
HLN - 22 from 53
USA - 23 from 34
SNY - 31 from 62
Comcast Sports Net - 33 from 51
NBC Sports Network - 34 from 139
TV Land - 35 from 70
truTV - 51 from 96
VH-1 - 53 from 61

This gets rid of the blank channels and puts all the sports channels together easy to find along with CNN and HLN together places USA near FX and TNT. VH-1 next to MTV and brings TV Land and truTV down closer. Cox would never come up with this idea. Sure its a lot of moves but it makes sense.

The changes I have in mind are more extensive than yours, but they make sense.

Thats a bunch of moves, to many are going to confuse people. Why all the shopping channels in the low 20s for? Could see you flip where you put the shopping channels with CNN, HLN, and Weather then putting the shopping channels in the 60s. Kids are going to wonder what happened to Disney and Nick figure you just move Cartoon Network to 45. Also I don't see any of the 3 new FOX channels moved to basic. Also I take it SNY you moved to 31 as I didn't see it.

Circa 2005 or 2006 sometime before I moved back to Bristol in 2009 before I moved back in with my Mom in Southington last year COMCAST moved almost every channel. Putting Fox Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 on the Basic puts them on the same level as ESPN and ESPN 2. And yes I inadvertanly left out SNY. It should say 31 SNY moved from 62.

I remember when Comcast did that their lineup looks pretty good. Only reason I wouldn't automatically put FOX Sports 1 and 2 on basic prices will go up and not much inventory on either channels. NBCSN took F1, Premiere League Soccer, and a few other sports. Plus being in Connecticut most people watch NESN, YES, and SNY anyway. So its not a demand, ESPN is different one they have inventory and are established plus witg being in Bristol.

Ken, How about this idea?

Looks real good, Id just flip ABC Family to 42 to be next to Disney and Cartoon Network to 45. And hey did you remove TNT for FXX on 25 ? Other then that you should submit it to Cox Cable as it looks heck lot better then how it currently looks.

You're lucky to even have that much analog service left. It won't last. No provider is adding more analog channels to the lineup in 2013, and most (Cox included) are moving quickly to get rid of as many analog channels as possible. All the money is in adding more digital and especially more HD services. Anything remaining that's analog is there for legacy purposes only.

And while the channel lineup may sometimes appear random, there are actually all sorts of interesting contractual and regulatory reasons why channels are where they are. That's especially true of broadcasters. If Cox moves WGBY or WZME down the dial, it may be forced to keep them there indefinitely, even if it has a good reason to move them again.

Wow .That is strange how Cox have their cable channels on their lower end channel line up.

I'm on Comcast here .They made these changes years ago before they went all digital and now on the 1st on this month .

All TV's need a box to watch any TV.

Comcast went digital at the end of 2011 and let the subscribers with TV's with digital ready tuners receive the locals and some cable channels without renting a box.

I only receive the 26 basic plus TBS ,Weather Channel,TV Guide channel.QVC,Shopping Channels NE News Channel,Religious channels ,The local access channels on 18,19 and 20 and Music Choice for about $30.00 a month with 6 cable boxes.

I dont know what Cox charge for the basic tier.

They dumped WPIX,WWOR,WSBK, and WLVI off the line up almost 20 years ago.

I remember HBO used to be on cable channel 5 here.

I'm surprised that we still have the New York channels here .Comcast blocks the NYC channels to protect the locals. Why bother having them on the line up as I say and it will save some bandwidth for them on the long run. I dont remember if the NYC channels fall under the must carry rule.

I was receiving FOX5 NY direct fed to TV until they went all digital on the 1st of this month.Maybe its up on a higher tier.

It wasn't intentional. It was an oversight (like with my other idea where I left off SNY). I would have TNT move up one to 26 and stick Discovery on 72. And everything else would move down one channel.
