Cox Media Group Is Launching A Right-Wing Website...

I know Anne Cox Chambers is still a Democrat in good standing (and she used to be a presidential elector for the Dems when they used to list the electors on the ballot), but I want to say that I heard some of her kids have become staunch Republicans. Is this true or not?

I remember 20 years ago when the AJC would regularly rail on Rush and WGST for broadcasting "hate radio"...is Cox just following the money or has there been a political change of heart at Cox?

Cox-Chambers is a "Kennedy Democrat". Nothing like the liberal democrats we are stuck with today.

Actually, Joe Biden sized it up quite well on a Sunday Morning talk show during the campaign. The really liberal Democrats, the flaming ones... were the classes of the early 1970's.... When Joe himself was a freshman congressman. His argument... if he were in this thread... would be that the Democrats of today are much more in the mold of the "Kennedy Democrats" as you have identified them.

The point he was making was that the Republican Class of Tea Party folks in 2010 were as radical-to-the-right as the Democrats of 1970 were radical-to-the-left.

We may be a long time figuring out what the tonality of politics might be in the Cox Family these days. Georgia Democrats have yet to settle in on what is their stripe. Southern Democrats were for years very conservative but finally about 10 years ago the Georgia elected officials en-mass over a couple of election cycles just switched parties... but their tonality of their politics changed very little.

The remanant of those who stayed with the Democratic Party in Georgia plus the move-ins who arrived with their own political bona-fides from various states around the nation are still trying to figure out: "Who the hell are we, anyway."

To borrow your phrase, Democrats in Georgia have yet to demonstrate that they are Nothing "like the liberal democrats we are stuck with today."

I guess like much of the rest of Georgia, the Cox Family and other shareholders, can begin to make up their mind what the tonality of their politics are going to be for the next few years, and how that mixes with a business venture.

It's about money. Period. Cox is about to lose Boortz & I don't think they have so much faith in Herman Cain to be their new standard bearer. So in order to remain tapped into that very lucrative income stream (as well as the current anger felt towards the 51% of uninformed voters), Cox goes this route. A rather smart move.

The vast majority of those 51% of voters are anything other than "uninformed". The same could be said about that said and actually verified about a significant majority of that other 49%... ::)

Anyways, Cox can do whatever but Atlanta isn't getting any more socially conservative with time rather more moderate as a region as a whole. In about 10-15 years only 1 of the existing core 6 counties will be considered a true stalwart of social conservatism, Cobb. The Atlanta radio market is basically the core 6 counties (Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Clayton, Cobb, and Douglas) with about 10 other counties whose population wouldn't be able to match or surpass the core anytime soon. In other words, good luck with this venture but I don't see it doing too well beyond the immediate future...

Today's Dems have nothing in common with JFK's policies. JFK was a Democrat but he was a conservative. This is the same man who said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". Democrats today want "their" country doing everything for everybody all the while waging warfare with anyone or anything that does not march in lock step with them.

Tell me Hoss: How many meetings of Democrats in Georgia have you attended in the last couple of years?

How many meetings of Democrats ANYWHERE have you attended in the last couple of years?

Figures when you can't address the issue you try to muddy it up. I stand by the statement that today's Dems have nothing in common with Kennedy. No meetings needed.

Is a Format Change in sight?

Well, does anyone think this will translate to a broadcast outlet?

Agree 110%. This past election solidified it.
