Cox news

hmmm...changes coming? nah!

Cox/Houston Promotes Johnny Chiang

After serving as PD for Cox/Houston Country KKBQ & Classic Country KTHT for the past two years, Chiang has been upped to Cox/Houston OM/Programming. He will continue to oversee day-to-day programming at KKBQ & KTHT in his new role.

"Johnny has been a key player in our organization and has clearly demonstrated his leadership capabilities with many contributions to our entire Houston team," Cox/Houston RVP/Market Manager Caroline Devine says. "He is a passionate programmer, manager and coach who also makes it fun to come to work every day."

Chiang began his radio career at then Cox-owned KFI/Los Angeles as the morning show producer in 1991. He moved on to clustermate AC KOST, working his way up to PD over eight years.

Chiang joined Cox in 2000 to help launch 80s KHPT/Houston.

So he's responsible for the mess coming from 106.9! You hit it on the head, purplejay. The only change probably coming is a new desk for him to work at.<P ID="signature">______________

I've had KHPT on the last couple of nights for a short time and that station is lamer than it has ever been. It sounded like a watered down version of Sunny when KODA was at it's most boring. Sunny's Zoe Bonet plays much better music and is a very talented lady to boot. I doubt there will be any change at any Cox station, but how terrible can The Point get before the ratings disappear and the station might actually change formats?
