Just noticed on the arbitron ratings that Cox owns both ACs WDUV and WWRM. Why would they put on two stations of the same format? Just curious to know.

And 102.5 and 97X and the Point and Eagle....

Refraining from being a smart-aleck about it, one philosophy in programming a cluster of stations is have narrow overlaps and try to cover all aspects of a particular demo.

CC people can tell you about meetings on the subject of "driving the lanes."

Haing said all of that, Magic is aimed at 25-54's and DUV is targeted much older, so even though they're both soft, they're intended for different audiences.

The difference is that the new Magic 94.9 is soft, and contemporary!

"...and voted #1 AGAIN for the most music while you work!"

(Sorry -- can't resist.)

ok, while we are on the subject of cix. what is with the "all new" crap? they have been saying on the point down there for 8 freaking years and wwrm for about 3 or 4. and also they say it on power 95.3 here as well. what is that? they are not new stations. they are old now. the new should only last for a few months. not 8 years. who wants to bet they say it next year and so on? ???
???
it baffles me.

#1 Again! Wow, that makes 75,000 times in a row that Magic has won that wonderful "most music" election. By now they must be the greatest radio station ever.

These are not creative stations. WBBY was a few years ago on 107.3. Then they became the Eagle. I guss WHPT is "creatively." programmed if you like that stuff. Other than that, COX in Tampa Bay doesn't even make a fake stab at it with high profile jocks VT'ed from out of town. THey are just dull like that was an accomplishment. From what I've heard, both B98.5 in Atlanta and The Coast in Miami are more energetic that WWRM. If they were CC, they would be VT'ing from them. AS I said, COX is honestly programming with nobody home.

I just keep waiting for enough of WDUV's audience to die so they fall out of first place. ;D

When The Bay became The Eagle, I honestly thought it was "The Beagle", and their mascot was Snoopy...
Then I taped that puking announcer saying: "Thiiiiiis is Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeagle music", and sped it up to 20 times normal speed and realized he was saying "eagle".

These stations are always "new", by the way, due to a little-known principle of astro-physics involving Planck's Constant, where the energy an announcer puts into pronouncing the word "New" is multiplied by the number of times they say it, and expressed as joule-seconds (J·s) denoting the proportionality constant between the energy E of a photon and its frequency ν. Or, expressed as the Tesla-Marconi formula as ¥± Þ-©/œ+ 1.054571628(53) X 10-34. In other words, what's "New" right now, will be New forever, as long as pukey announcer-boy says it is.

Then there's U-104, Dub-Flay, and Mini-Mix. All great station monikers. But I digress.
