Cox Radio Announcement Today at 8:30AM

Three months after Cox Radio went private, parent Cox Enterprises restructures its radio, television and newspaper division into a single unit.

Which means.... more jobs will be lost.

That's horrible....and here I thought the announcement would be the removal of the word "NEW" from The River's imaging.

I'm in Greenville, SC and get that station and have listened for 3 years. It is sad.

So...the announcement was that Cox Radio CEO Bob Neil and Cox Newspaper executive Doug Franklin will become EVP's of the broader Cox Media Group and will work with the radio stations, and some TV stations and newspapers. Cox Radio executive Mark Morgan will become SVP & Chief Revenue Officer and also work with Cox's radio stations, TV stations and newspapers. The objective is to bring the radio, TV and newspaper divisions closer together. It was also announced that KnowsNews2 will continue to criticize any station not owned by Cox and any poster criticizing a Cox station.

I guess every day's copy of the AJC will have the exact same stories...only with a different date on top (If the new design wasn't bad enough already). On WSB-TV, they will run John and Monica on a loop repeating the exact same stories day after day, with very little new news stories added. (You know where I am going).

I am surprised Bob Neil is sticking around with a demoted title (I assume his pay will be the same or better as it was as CEO of Cox Radio).

I guess with revenues for old media heading down the toliet (with newspapers leading the decline), it does make sense to get rid of seperate operating divisions and go back to the way things were before the Telecom Act of 1996.

I am sorry, but jokes of this theme will never not be funny to me. ROTFL.

I heard that the AJC will start having weather info at the top of every page, and the front page won't have any news... just snippets saying that there are news stories coming up on subsequent pages.

Don't you mean the NEW AJC?

Bravo for Alex Taylor, King of All (Cox) Media in Dayton. He's dedicated his entire career working his way from merely being great-grandson of the founder all the way up to being Great-Grandson of the Founder.

Way to get born, Alex!
