Why does every one on here is WPOI as a textbook example of Cox using the word "New" for much too long. That criticism could be used with almost EVERY radio station they own. "Magic 949" is even worse. Heck they still even use "New" on their website. WXGL and WPOI at least dropped "The New" from their website.

Not by much but Cox has been milking the goat with WWRM since 1988. Since Febuary 2001 under the "Magic" Name. "The Point" since December 2001. However WPOI gets more heat for calling themselves "New". 94.9 generly gets away with it.

Could calling a station "New" over a few monthes old be false advertising.

Ever think that maybe "New" isn't referring to the station itself by being "new" by definition? I'm of the opinion that the name of the station is "NEW MAGIC" and the frequency is 94.9. I mean they're even using the domain name NewMagic949.com now. Either that or they've carried it so far now that it's just gonna be that way FOREVER. I really wish someone from Cox... anyone from Cox Radio would simply post the real reasons behind use of the word "new". Someone has got to know the real reason. Heck be anonymous.... we just want to know so we can quit talking about it.

2nd station I ever worked for WNUE in Ft. Walton Beach. What else "New Radio" :D

Don't laugh during the mid 70's and early 80's that was a rockin little coffee pot AM!!

"It's great to be here in New England... what's so new about New England? It's 400 years old! Last time I checked, it's not that new!" ;D
