Cox sells CT FMs

All Access reports:

"Specifically, SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT radio stations WPLR, WEZN, WFOX and contract rights for WYBC are being sold to CONNOISSEUR MEDIA."

There's a format hole in Fairfield County since Cox dumped news/talk combo WNLK/WSTC. It would be great to see one of these FMs become something other than the same old music on a different shuffle setting, but I don't suppose that will happen.

I think WFOX is the most likely of those to change formats. They are competing with WRKI and WAXQ in Fairfield county. Going further east add their own WPLR.

It is also a region ripe for a Alternative format to appeal to the more affluent suburbanites. If not Alternative then I could see them going news/talk.

Bridgeport's WICC-600 is talk, and has (at least during the day) a pretty good signal in Fairfield County.

Also, I would think that New York's WOR-710 and WABC-770 also have quite a few listeners in Fairfield County.

Agreed..alternative would be a perfect format for WFOX.

Or perhaps the Fox will be swallowed up by The Shark?
After all, Peter Puberty is not only PD of Connoisseur's 94.3 on Long Island but he is also "brand manager"
And let's not forget about 104.1 WMRQ which is already alternative.

104.1 WMRQ barely comes in..in lower Fairfield Co.
