Cox Sells Richmond Stations to Summit Media.....

Hmmm....some twists here....

It's a new group this "Summit Media", so how deep are their pockets? How committed are they to "local" radio? And will there be any changes to any of the four stations?

Stay tuned!

I don't know how deep their pockets are, but Summit Media is mostly owned by former Heftel/HBC exec Carl Parmer and David DuBose, the GM of Cox's Birmingham cluster who was also a former station owner in Birmingham. From what I've read, some of the other GM's may have a small interest in Summit, too.

So, I wouldn't expect the culture to change a whole lot. DuBose has been firmly entrenched in the corporate culture at Cox since he sold his stations (WBHJ/WBHK) to them roughly 15 years ago. Of course, they'll have to make money with their properties, which means a format change or two can't be completely ruled out.
