Cox Stations in SW Connecticut Simulcasting Post Storm Coverage

WFOX, WPLR, and WEZN have temporarily suspended their usual music programming to air the same program. It is taking calls from listeners about their experiences following Irene.

Kudos to them. they are doing a great Job. I have been listening to them on the 95.9 WFOX for hours due to the fact I have No Power at my house and cell networks are in bad shape worse than normal still in Downtown Old Greenwich and down towards the beach IE no Internet. I have driven up to the riverside shopping center at exit 5 where there is stable signal and my 175 Watt power Inverter. The only question I do have is why is the FOX playing 30 seconds of Songs mostly instrumental during the breaks in coverage instead of Adds or local spots. some of the song selections have been really interesting.

95.9 could have been receiving the audio via the web stream of 99.1 or 99.9 since there's no need for a permanent STL. Kind of like how WFTL 850 in Florida received the audio from FM News 101.9.

They are doing the multi-station simulcast again today, except for morning drive. Funny to hear Lapitino, Chaz and AJ on Star 99.9. Will we hear The Wigmaster on Star this Friday afternoon? :)

Its been a interesting change listening to this simulcast. Really fun listening to the different personalities interact (and hearing different music). It's been a great service to listeners...keeping the calls on the postive..what is working, where to get help, who is doing something different... as opposed to the guys up north trashing the utilites and trying to blame it all on the democrats. It an amazing idea and having to hear wiggy talk to others in same room is sometimes comical. Overall, great, job, well produced. Kudos to who ever thought of it....

They have given out good information and have aired a lot of calls from residents and mayors. This aftermath coverage is something listeners and community leaders are going to remember for a long time.

Bushman on PLR and Star after a normal morning drive on the FOX.. that was pretty interesting :)
