WRONG! If you look at the FACTS, you'll see this has very little to do with the Pres...

Their poor post wk 3 sales are more a result of what they did EARLIER THIS YEAR - taking unwarrented shots at Country music stations and country music fans that still supported them and listened to their music... If Natalie hadn't gone and dissed those Country stations that were still supporting them post-incident and if she hadn't dissed the fans who had Toby and Reba in their CD players, the album would EASILY be 3x Platinum now instead of floundering at 1.73 million Units sold and 102nd on the Billboard album chart only 6 months after release...

Their career is effectively finished thanks to Natalie's polticial agenda and her mouth being more important to her than her sales and her fans...

It's the facts I'm reporting my friends... read my posts, and there isn't a touch of opinion in them... It sounds like some of you just can't handle the truth... and the truth is this album and tour are a big flops here in the States. They cancelled 14 concerts here... they had to reschedule those dates into Canada and Australia... did any of you catch the AMA awards? Well, you may have noticed they received just a smattering of applause from the audience... everyone else (even Gwen Stefani with her very weird performance) got a lot more applause than they did...

I've got a boatload of other facts about this thing flopping if you want me to post them...

Your definition of Country and what Countryactually is currently are 2 different things... they flat out said they don't want Country stations or Country listeners...

So, if you're hearing them on XM, then the PD's of XM apparently aren't listening to Natalie and her desires to not be heard on Country stations.

XM's listenership is down 25% over the past year as per the last report, so I guess the demand just isn't there, so enjoy them there while you still have that luxury!

keep believing those myths thrown out by the NAB..xm and sirius is here to stay. and country radio today IS NOT COUNTRY!!

Country radio is indeed STILL COUNTRY. If you don't think so, then obviously you are confusing Americana or some other genre with Country.

Toby Keith
Gretchen Wilson
Reba McEntire
George Strait
Trace Adkins
Joe Nichols
Vince Gill
Brooks and Dunn

These artists are amongst the core of Country music today... if they aren't Country, then I'd sure like to know what genre of music they would fit into then...

trace adkins--???
joe nichols???
vince gill--pop
brooks and dunn-- redneck rock

lol... what a hole you're digging yourself... You seriously don't know who Trace Adkins or Joe Nichols are? I think you just any credibility you may have thought you had on the topic of Country music just with that post alone... Also, FYI... Reba hasn't EVER had a Pop hit... neither has Vince Gill. Toby and B&D = "Redneck Rock" Huh??? And it's George "Strait" in case you forgot...

As for your other comments... more laughs...

Shania's COUNTRY's BIGGEST STAR... 38 million copies sold worldwide including 20 million here in the U.S. for just ONE CD!!! I mean, COME ON OVER and see the light!!!

Faith's had some crossover success, but she remains one of Country's biggest stars.

Carrie's had 3 Consecutive #1 hits on the Country charts... and NONE of them sound POP-ish in slightest sense of the word... and she has a 4x Platinum debut Country album, which is STILL selling VERY strong more than a year after it's initial release - you can't say that about the chicks a scant 6 months after their release. She's won a slew of Country music awards... oh, and by the way, she doesn't own a SINGLE Pop hit... your dixie chicks do have a POP hit though in case you forgot about "Landslide".

Rascal Flatts is also very popular act in Country, and I will give it to you that they aren't what you would call "traditional" Country"... they are kind of unique in their sound and harmonies and it will be interesting to see what they do in the future. "What Hurts The Most" is a multi-format smash... they can really pick whatever format they choose. The real Country music fans though seem to love them...

Music always has EVOLVED... you may not like it, but change is just the way of the world and the music world is NO different!!! Look at the charts of ANY format and you'll see that what was popular 25 or 30 or 40 years ago isn't what is popular now... some formats like AOR that were popular 25 years ago, are all but dead now... Country (thankfully) is thriving as the 5% increase in the format's sales over the past year will attest to...

hank 3 said it best..listen to dick in dixie...thats my thoughts on country music in 2006. hell listen to the whole album. its describes the payola industry of country music. if you dont sell out. you dont get on the radio anymore. are the dixie chicks country? no..but neither is anything else you play.

Dammit..so true. Just like this stuff they call rock n roll that don't sound a thing like Chuck Berry!

uh yea whatever... ::)

rock n roll is totally diffrent. diffrent styles of the same format. country is not country at all!! not even close. country radio want even touch the new merle haggard/ george jones..why?? because its country  if country was country. it would still play country music..it dont! country fm radio sucks! i dont listen. i want listen!! i hope in 5 years all these redneck pop stations have chosen new formats and the consultants are in the unemployment line.

Unfortuneately country music changes... Look at the Countrypolitain work in the 1960's that's now considered "country".

I agree that some of Faith's, Shania, and most of Rascall Flatts work is moving more adult contemporary than country at times, But I find that country music changes with the times and that in 20 years we will be calling today' music "country" .. Just look at Alabama in the 1980s.. then they were just a country pop band.. now stone cold country.. go figure.

Also you talk about xm and sirius.. I've listened and other than a occasional add that most country stations won't add due to pressure from local fans or corporate and XM radio's america (that is a traditional leaning country station basically).. a lot of it sounds so much like the same country stations you slam.

I'm not including the Americana stations as most areas don't have them and those that do are either in Texas or on HD2 in big cities right now (and Sat based radio has the upper hand in not having to worry about not having listeners).

Haggard and Jones aren't played as their music doesn't do well with the demos that listen to the new country music out right now.... But are played on traditional and classic country stations (as well as small town mom and pop country stations).. Would it drive listeners off if their newer music was played on mainstream? I don't know..

][/quote]

what??? xm 10 america plays a ton of music that is not and has never ever been on country terestial radio. heather miles, hank 3, shooter, new george/merle, new barbra mandrell tribute album..a LOT of stuff!! the stations i listen to sound NOTHING LIKE fm radio! not even the sirius mainstream country station that tonight played the new song from none other than the dixie chicks. the follow up to not ready to make nice. this isnt about was alabama pop or wastammy wynette pop, or chet atkins. this is about how country music turned its back on the people that made the format originally!! hell they want even play ricky van shelton or doug stone..not even carlene carter for gods sake! even though sirius and xm have modern country stations they also have dedicated stations to real country..and even outlaw country! wheres that new shooter song on fm..going to carolina..oh wait that 35 year old middle class stuck up soccer mom doent like it so its not on!! fm go +++ yourself!

now back to sirius 63..outlaw country

oh and that new haggard/jones is not on any radio anywhere except xm and sirius. its new music. but wai no one knows that because fm will not promote it or play it. they only laugh at it. xm 10 america is playing the statler brothers--susan when she tried as i type this...pam tillis is on sirius...neither is ever played on fm anymore except for a handful of classic country stations.
