Man, you can not get one right in the last few weeks.

As COO of the company that owned WTNT and WNLS in Tallahassee from 1990 t0 1993 I hired Rusty to consult WTNT, replacing Steve Warren. Phil Hunt was the person who did most of the market visits. With their help, the station went from a money loser to a nice profit center.

Call Rusty or Phil. Or Dave Lowe, the GM at the time. Or Judy Bailey, the GSM at the time and later the GM for Clear Channel. Or Jesús M. Soto, the owner then.

MASTER OF GRAND ILLUSION: One heard of you,not favorably. Another was a co-worker friend, who says what I have been pointing out,"you created your imaginary position" unquote.

So as far as getting things right..Practice what you preach. BTW I enjoy leaving you guessing who I corresponded with "countryboy";) AND I DID. Do your homework.

Heard of me? The people listed were hired by me or, in the case of Mr. Soto, was the owner.

Since you are making this all up, I am not wondering at all. I am, though, still wondering why you lie over and over about the KBBT PD. You never answer that one, because you can't.

MASTER OF GRAND ILLUSION.I am kinda wondering why you do what you accuse others of doing. The art of fabrication. In regards to the KBBT issue, nice try, nice story,Stephen King would be proud of you and just in time for Halloween too. Funny how they know of you,but NOT know you. Stay in Los Angeles and quit going on various boards claiming you are the all knowing and powerful of radio broadcasting. You are a braggart with nothing to brag about. You should be ashamed of for claiming credit based on the hard work of others, then having them dismissed. Which begs the question, How many are you planning to lay off before Christmas? Well David Edward "Ebeneezer" Frackleton Gleason? With respect to my Houston friends and colleagues I will leave this thread, you should do the same. You don't have a realistic reason to be here.

My reasons for being here are several: KOVE (#3 general market in PPM in first two weeks of October), KLTN, KPTY, KQBU, KLAT, KRTX. In additon, I am on the Aribtron PPM early users' panel, and Houston is the current PPM test market.

But I agree: you seem to have no reason at all to be here. In the old west, to a drunk looking for a fight, any bar would do.

Your fabrication about KBBT is getting absurd. You said the original PD of KBBT was "fired after 5 years" while the real story is that J.D. Gonzalez, who was the original PD (9/00) was promoted to Station Manager of the Houston Cluster in 3/04. So there is no PD who was ever there for 5 years as the station is only 6 years old!

If you are going to make stuff up, at least make the dates match and check how long the station has been on the air in its current format. You could do a lot better job if you just did a little research.

By the way, the "firing" comment is uncalled for. Univision Radio has incredibly good job security and stability... probably at the absolute top in the industry. You dishonor the 1,500 employees of the radio division.

Here we go again...another great thread polluted by a pissing match. Freakin'...grow up folks. David...don't pay any attention to these people. I know Rusty Walker through my association with Cox Radio and through a gentleman by the name of Ben Chalker and a gentleman by the name C.C. McCarthey. You, too, may be familiar with these gentleman. I wouldn't have any hesitation whatsoever picking up the phone and calling the thriving city of Iuka and talking to Rusty personally. But...since I have a life...and am not juvenile, I really do have much better things to do.

David, the best thing you can do is to not respong to these infantile stabs, jabs and pokes...you just give them more reasons excuses to come up with even more unwarranted garbage...just for the sake of giving (to someone they really don't know) some grief. It is truly a shame that there are those who start such garbage. As a truly great Guy once said..."forgive them, for they know not what they do."

many of u should know that on the heels of the chicks concert in london when natalie maines made her big statement, conservative groups all over the country very quickly organized and flooded country stations with negative anti-chicks calls. U know, the typical "if u play those commies again i'll never listen to your station"

THAT is what caused all the boycots. let's keep this in perspective, folks

However, stations at the local level immediately did call out cycles and seem to have proven the rejection by the core... as well as the well known near-disappearance of all DC songs on AMTs.

Rusty and his team did a great job for us at WTNT. When I went in the day of the transfer, they were playing over 1200 songs, including the Everly Brothers and Eagles. Phil Hunt, the PD and I transformed the library from carts to GoldDisks, and changed from Selector to MusicMaster... all in time for a relaunch at 6 AM with the morning show. It was one of those legendary "the format is in a box at the motel" changes, but the staff was to remain intact and they were really revved up within hours of the change.

Gene Deckerhoff, who was the voice of the Seminoles, did some promos as WTNT was the flagship for the Seminoles network. All in all, quite exciting. After all was done, we lifted a few at a honky tonk north of town (one of those "good place for a beer and a fight" places) where we notice the interesting phenomenon that the juke box was playing our new playlist, not the old one! Someone with a pocket full of quarters could have figured that one out.

I never did make it to Iuka, though. I do know of the gentlemen of whom you speak... were you at a Cox country station?

It is interesting that one person's "listening to the lsitener" is another person's "caving in to pressure." Personally, if I find most of my listeners do not like something, I stop doing it pretty fast.

I'm not a radical right wing conservative but their action was still uncalled for and I hope I never hear them again.

Natalie Maines= Stupid, Stubborn, Arrogant.

radiodial, OldGringo, StevenNOLA and TheLaffer...you guys are dead-on about Natalie Mange!

radiofriend1...you, of course, are wrong. Country radio asked its listeners what they wanted...the vast majority, in so many words, said "drop the Chicks." Most, if not all, stations asking the question did what the listeners wanted. What a concept! If you don't, or can't, understand that, its OK. We wouldn't expect you to.

OldGringo...I am associated with Cox Radio...though I am not employed by them. I'm very familiar with the programming of KKYX, KCYY, KKBQ, and KTHT. Roger (Allen) was, fairly recently, looking for someone to take over the reins at KKYX/KCYY. I don't know if Rusty consults any of their other "Country" properties but I know the Texas properties are his and I know that Bob Neil likes him.

By the way, where do you office out of? If you're in the same city I'm in, I'd like to have lunch with you one of these days before too very long (I'll buy). You like Molina's or Pappadeaux?

Also...do the names Dave Stewart, Robert Tindle, Doug Frederiksen, or Tom Castro mean anything to you?

I get the impression that the reactions we are reading come from people outside of radio who do not know how much larger market stations spend on research and how often they do it. For some reason, "research" is a dirty word even though all it means is talking to the listeners to find out what they want. Maybe some are not in radio, which is understandable. Others may have been in radio when research was not yet common, or they may be in radio but not in "the loop."

I would not turn down a meal at either! But I am based in LA... but go to Dallas and Houston six to eight times a year. With the PPM and my direct involvement with the Recuerdo format and network, I am working even more with KOVE, which is doing amazingly in the PPM...

Also...do the names Dave Stewart, Robert Tindle, Doug Frederiksen, or Tom Castro mean anything to you?

Dave and I are pretty good friends... I am sort of the adopted member of the engineering department, and Dave and I share a passion for old Broadcasting Magazines and Yearbooks. Tom Castro has been an interesting competitor several times, and again with BMP in several of the markets. Robert and Doug are not folks I know, though.

Robert was an engineer back when it was Heftel, then possibly Hispanic. He later went on to work for Tom Castro at 106.5 and 107.9 in Houston. He then went on to work for Jose Libermann (LBI) in Houston where he remains today.

Doug followed Robert at Heftel/Hispanic in Houston. I thought Doug would make it to the next incarnation...Univision. He didn't.

Geez...I think I have all those company names right!

And the government has not censored her but she has cried like a baby because the people rejected her. Deal with your cry baby! It's all you know is to cry, cry, and cry.
