Cozi TV Petticoat Junction generic replacement theme Song

NBC new sub-channel Network Cozi TV is running a old syndicated version on Petticoat Junction that has the iconic theme song replaced with generic music . I do remember hearing of time when this was common a recently a 20 years ago (i.e. Busom Buddies) but i thought TV had syndication moved beyond this especially a network owned by NBC/Comcast

The same thing happens when they run episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies. They only have the episodes in the public domain, with the theme replaced with a generic bluegrass type song.

The first 2 seasons of Petticoat Junction are in the public domain. Since other elements of the show are copyrighted, like the music, the original music had to be edited out. MeTV has the national rights to that show, & if they were to carry the first 2 seasons, they'll more than likely carry the episodes with the original music, like they do with the first 55 episodes of Beverly Hillbillies that have the original music, but episodes themselves are technically in the public domain.

As for this network, until I see it improve program wise, it's becoming another RTV, just from what I heard about that network, but mainly seen OTA by those in the northern suburbs of Chicagoland on WPVN-CD 24.1.

I read somewhere that Cozi's real launch date is Jan 1 and what's on now is sort of a "soft" premiere. Maybe that's why they're running public domains shows now, and programming will improve on the first.

Agreed. They certainly don't promote the PD stuff they were running. The Christmas episode of "The Ruggles"....wowzers; kinescoped & no laugh track.

Don't expect to see Hillbillies or PJ after Jan 1.

BTW I am sad to see original copyright dates covered by the distribuor on "Roy Rogers" & "Hopalong Cassidy", but at least I can look up the episodes online.
