COZI TV

KPRC dropped LATV from 2.3 awhile back, so that's always an option, pairing it with This TV on 2.2. KSAT and WPLG, both Post-Newsweek stations, as well, both replaced LATV with Me-TV, FWIW.

I was wondering if any other Post stations were airing Cozi. Thanks, intx, for the info. If that's the case, I'd suspect 2.3 lights back up at some point for Cozi. I keep re-scanning periodically on the hope that it does.

I would think they would start with their owned and operated stations. In Texas, the only NBC O&O is KXAS in Ft Worth. I doubt they would put it on their Telemundo O&Os.

Anyone having issues receiving KXAS COZI 5.2? My Sony TV displays it as Audio Only, my Zenith converter boxes show No Signal, I've read other reports on AVS forum some LG TVs and Channel Master converter boxes can't decode it either. Ch 5's response - rescan your set. Yes of course, have already done that, and reset to factory default too. Conclusion: they have a problem.

Looks like right after I posted the preceding message, KXAS fixed the problem with COZI.

I have a portable RCA TV that won't display Cozi, and I've heard of others with similar problems. Cozi will show up during the scan but if you try to tune to it, it displays "no program" or something similar. 5.1 works fine.

DTVPal DVRs work fine, as does the Philco (and I presume the Magnavox) converter box, but there's apparently something hinky about KXAS's channel map since the switch. (Every box seemed to work fine with NonStop.)

So I agree, it's their problem - but getting them to recognize that is also a problem!

Have you tried it this afternoon? I got a reply back from KXAS saying they had made changes, which fixed the problem with my receivers.

ed_in_tx over on AVS btw.. ;)

Sorry I read this thread first, then the AVS thread. Sounds like they got it fixed. I'll try Cozi on my RCA again later this evening.

They signed up several non-O&Os, too, including some owned by Dallas-based London Broadcasting, which has stations in Dallas, Bryan/College Station/Waco, Tyler/Longview/Lufkin, Beaumont, Corpus, San Angelo and Abilene. With Barrington's stations up for sale, I wouldn't be surprised to see them enter Amarillo and/or Harlingen. Cox's KFOX in El Paso is up for grabs, too, the company publicly announced recently.

Makes me wonder if there's a London-based TV network named Dallas Broadcasting :D Anyway, sounds like Houston Cozi fans are still SOL :(

BTW I've confirmed that my RCA portable TV picks up Cozi now. I had to tune it to 5-1 once before 5-2 would work, but once I'd done that, I could tune to 5-2 directly.

I was hoping that KPRC & WDIV would be getting this new channel from NBCU because both stations really do have connections with The Peacock.

So has London said whether they will

-- add Cozi on it's own new separate subchannel at each of their stations
OR
-- bump something to put Cozi on to each station
??? ???

That would be interesting for London to end up with KVII/7 after almost getting KFDA/10 before.... would they really want to be in Clovis (KVIH), though (especially since it's technically not a TX station, contrary to what London has been acquiring)? The Harlingen station (KGBT) sounds like about the best chance for London to be in the Valley, if they want to be there. El Paso? IDK if the market size is too big for London or not.

London has a DFW station (KTXD/47), and I'm pretty sure DFW is bigger market than El Paso ;)

Uh-huh.... I meant besides DFW :D

I wonder if London's acquisition of 47 signaled the start of a trend: London moving into larger Texas markets with classic TV. Of course Cozi won't be on 47 since DFW has an NBC O/O, but I could see them putting Cozi on in other large Texas markets like El Paso. OTOH, maybe 47 was a one-off. Guess we'll see....

I suspect 47 was as you suggested a "one off" deal. They are having a difficult time gaining traction with 47 in the ratings. But I also think they're offering an option to some syndication outfits that couldn't otherwise get on in this market. There may be some "pay to play" shows there and certainly the two subchannels (aside from Me-TV on 47.4) are likely paid for. They might be barely breaking even with 47, but I still suspect they're losing money this year with some startup costs.

El Paso (91) is actually a smaller market than Waco/Bryan/College Station (88), FWIW. London, of course, is already in Waco (KCEN) and B/CS (KAGS).
