CP for 103.7 religious translator lic to Gloucester

Last month a CP was granted for a translator of the "Renew FM" Christian station/network at 103.7
licensed to Gloucester--but from the radio-locator.com map it looks like the stick will be in either Beverly
or Manchester-by-the-Sea.

Also there is, or will be, a 101.5 in Gloucester // WERS but I haven't checked to see if they're on yet or not.

Yup, looks like it is at Hale & Hart St.s in Beverly Farms:

101.5 is on the air //WERS.

There's also supposed to be a 96.5 up there, on the 104.9 tower. The antenna is up, but I've yet to hear it on the air. I believe that one is supposed to simulcast 90.5 WSMA.

Beverly Farms for the translator, eh...not too far from Manchester-by-the-Sea line (hi Jay Severin),
and 2 towns away from Gloss-tahhh...
I tried picking up the 101.5 here in Beverly but it sounded like the Prov. classic hits station instead

We were talking about the 92.1 //WNNW; I was picking that up quite well nr the Liberty Tree Mall
in Danvers. As L. Glavin said it indeed does kind of point southeast

I heard it faintly a few years ago when I was in Ipswich. It was relaying WUMB for a short time back then.

I tried it again, in the "Ryal Side" section of Beverly and 101.5 seemed to go back & forth between what I guess was the WERS simulcast, and the Prov station.

It's a shame that translators are eating up dail space on Cape Ann. An LPFM would better serve the area.

My Opinion

Slight correction to "X marks the spot" (used NAD27 coordinates on main data page, instead of NAD83 that the map uses——which nudges the antenna about 150 ft. northeast, from the left of the parked car to the end of the unnamed extension past Hale St. north...which looks more like where an antenna should be P=):

I just added the "W279BQ Radio Antenna" place.

Just curious, is there some sort of howling need for a "Renew FM" Christian station on Cape Ann? Is that really a better option than a local LPFM that serves the community (even though WBOQ does a decent job of it)?

Or is it just another corporate-style muscle flex of a mega-religious broadcaster? Taking up band space and wasting electricity. This kind of crap is the sort of thing that i do hope the Obama FCC will deal with.
