Craig James (ESPN; ex-KDFW) to run for congress

James won't get many votes in Dallas either. People there remember how James and Eric Dickerson's "play for pay" college career led to SMU getting the death penalty from the NCAA.

James has never admitted taking illegal inducements to play at SMU, but he's never denied it either, and no one would believe him if he did.

As a TV sports analyst, James has always come across as a full of himself know-it-all. Of course that describes most other TV sports analysts, but they're not running for the US Senate.

I'm a Republican, but I'm damn sure not going to vote for him in the Primary.

He's done at ESPN and won't be coming back.

Also.. he's not running for "congress" (that implies U.S. House of Representatives) he's running for the U.S. Senate.

I have no idea why he's doing this. I suppose he has some name ID, but there are plenty of better candidates on the Republican side with a lot more money and experience than he has. He'll have to blow people away in the debates to have a prayer. Bottom line: this an expensive ego exercise that will result in him spending a lot of money to accomplish nearly nothing.

... James had better avoid campaigning in Lubbock. TV coverage there would get ugly.

Does Longhorn Network accept political advertisements? ::)

Longhorn Network is a whore like all the others. They'll accept advertisements from anyone who can afford to buy the time if the check doesn't bounce.

I don't think James's campaign will spend much if any money on the Longhorn Network, unless a lot more cable systems and satellites pick it up.

Politicians are like commercial businesses. They put their campaign ads on stations and networks with the most viewers. Longhorn Network doesn't qualify.
