Craig Shemon: gone from y!SR

The interesting thing is Shemon's replacement on the schedule: they moved up Travis Rodgers to middays - going head-to-head against Jim Rome, whose show he had produced for years (not in Houston, anyway, since Rome is no longer heard in that market)...

Yahoo Sports Radio has to do something qiock with their programming to stay alive and do it now. Espesiclly (Weekend Overnights, and Early Saturday mornings)
Perhaps like this
-Saturday/Sundays 1am-6am Either or John Frickie or Lee Hacksaw Hamilton
or Saturdays/Sundays 1am-6am Put on "2 Live Stews" but put them on LIVE not taped. And put both John Fricke and Lee Hacksaw Hamilton at some time on the weekend (example: Saturday/Sundays 1pm-7pm)

Saturday 6am-11am Chris Plank (He used to be on "Fox Sports Radio" weekend overnights about four years ago)
They have to do something and something fast!!

If they are running tape in some of those hours, isn't that cheaper then hiring hosts? Why do you think that would help saving them?

because @Tomficker, they should have (LIVE) shows for those listenning out west, and for those listenning in Alaska, and Hawaii. (Maybe 6am-7am Saturday and Sunday can be taped) other than that, they should have LIVE programming 24/7 365

Tomficker's point is that those time slots essentially don't matter. They can't generate revenue, and 99% of most affiliates don't care what is on the air...they just want a network to provide something.

Now, if CBS or NBC provide stellar and amazing programming 24/7 maybe it will be a problem for YSR, but so for CBS and NBC don't look to be doing that model.

YSR's biggest problem is that outside of Steve Czaban, what do they have?

If you are a network and can't make money in those day parts then something is wrong. Beside czabe ysr has Tim Brando, unless he jumps ship to CBS.

that's why I'm saying, they should be live (almost 24/7) 365 (Maybe 6am-7am Saturday/Sunday can be taped)

Doug Russell (formerly 8-10pm) and Mark Carman (formerly KCSP Kansas City and WGN Chicago) get the 4-8pm ET slot on Yahoo Sports Radio.

As mentioned in an earlier post by DToTheJ: Travis Rodgers has moved to the 1-4pm ET slot.

Moves take effect on Mon. 8/27/12.

Radio-Online story here.

My thinking is say YSR can save 500 dollars every Saturday and Sunday by being creative in taped programming on off peak weekend hours. Are they losing commercial revenue? I doubt it. I imagine the same spots run regardless of live or tape.

Outside of Czaban, there's nothing worth listening to on that network

I'm surprised you don't like Brando.

Brando, is an excellent TV host. But, his radio show is a yawn-fest. He talks about the SEC everyday. For that I'll listen to Paul Finebaum
