surfing these posts feel that experience --especially in a
Major Market-- is worth a bit more than $22.00 an hour?
I'm not a psychic, although have occasionally played one
on the radio, but reading between the lines in this
prospective boss' Craig's List ad, it seems his
inexperience in human relations and small vision of his
own hot new AC station is already revealing itself.
(Gotta remember that when applying for the gig; bet I could be on his
short list if I put down that I'd be willing to barker for only $20 an hour...)

I don't know. The ad just isn't very clear. Maybe, he/she means $22/hour for part-time? If that is the case does that mean $22/hour is what part-timers should make in SF? Does Clear Channel pay $22/hour for weekends?

Well, what is the average for a part-timer in SF? Like $30/hour? That would mean part-timers at Wild, Movin, Wolf and KMEL are doing very well if what you say is true. It must be nice.

Yes the pay is low and we know that union scale at KOIT and KGO is over $ 40.00 an hour.
On the low end the union scale at Metro Networks is just over $ 21.00 and hour. However they are in a different location and they don't do music.
It does seem like the pay in S.F. is going down and not up.

Wonder why the talent on SF radio is so mediocre? Who the hell can live on $21/hour in SF?
I know people from smaller markets who were all excited about a gig in town until they found out how expensive it is to live in the metro.
In most large markets that would be enough to get by, but in SF a crap one-bedroom apartment will be more than $1,000 a month.

I'm almost thinking this ad is fraudulent...maybe a joke (albeit not really funny).
Fraudulence is nothing new to Craigslist, unfortunately.
Maybe someone with time on their hands posted the ad.

I don't understand what you mean. When I search that E-Mail address on yahoo all that comes up is the ad on craigslist.

How many people who have worked in radio in, say, Eureka or even Vacaville have been making $11 an hour and feel that $22 is a big step up?
Or do you think it's odd to post on Craigslist? Well, plenty of legit TV shows have advertised for staff and crew on Craigslist. I have a housemate who has gotten jobs from those ads.
I'd say the ad is legit.

No, I meant it's odd because it was such a brief ad.

It's not been unusual for a morning drive DJ to earn 6 figures, but the overnighter to earn minimum wage. After all, the morning brings in the most bucks at most stations, and most stations stay on overnight just to give people something to tune their clock radios to. (Dang hanging preposition!)
As for the brief ad, maybe they didn't want to give away enough info to let competitors know what's up? It does seem kind of old school, though. I mean, who really cares if another station changes format to hot AC? They're still selling against established leaders like KOIT, KSOL, etc.

22 is what most sf stations start part timers at .... but there are some that pay less.
