"Crap" on WCVB Channel 5's Cowboy Boots

WCVB Channel 5 under the ownership of Hearst- and the Texas based Argyle is a pale shadow of its former self.

The world is in turmoil and what do viewers get from late Saturday night to all day on Sunday - wall to wall crap on a Patriot's game that hasn't even been played yet. All Channel 5 seems to broadcast is something called "All Access" Patriots coverage with their sports announcer who I am afraid played too many games at Harvard without a helmet.

All other local programming as well as the very informative "Chris Matthews Program" have been axed for PRE - Patriot's crap.

Advice: Channel 5 - look at the bottom of your shoes; your programming is beginning to smell.

As much as it seems that you don't like football or sports coverage, people in the Boston DMA are interested in the New England Patriots. Whereas, some stations go overboard with Pats coverage, people are still interested. People are going to watch. It's that simple. What do you want? Silly news-talk shows all day long? There's only so much B.S. from crooked politicians I can take in one day. I would rather hear newspaper reporters (who think they are television and/or radio on-air talent) babble about the Patriots and the NFL all day instead of listening to and watching crooked politicians on talk shows.

How long of a pre-game show are we talking about here? I think the radio for the Patriots has been as long as three hours in some cases. No thanks! Often times, when WCCC-FM 106.9 of Hartford carries the WBCN-FM (Boston) radiocast with Gil and Geno, they'll cut away as soon as the game is overwith. WAQY-FM 102.1 in Springfield usually carries the whole thing. Depsite hating the Patriots (and boy do I HATE Them!), every NFL team should have their own pregame show, whether it's TV or radio. I think an hour is the limit which should be set for a pregame show.

You're correct there. I think the pregame on WBCN is 3 hours and the Post game is 3 hours. When the games were on 93.7 The 70s station in Hartford, how much of the pre and post game did they carry?

I don't know. Again, I've never been a Patriots fan and only tuned in on occasion to see if they were losing. That's about it.

Thanks. I just expect more out of Channel 5 than I have seen of late. They were the premier commercial television station in this area and I hate to see them slip.

They are only slipping if they aren't doing well in the ratings, not because "Cassablanca don't like it."
