[crappy 1980's live action tv show network]

So, it seems Cartoon Network is showing Saved by the Bell.

And then they had one of their promos with the text on a black screen where a "viewer's letter" said either they should drop it or change their name.

And so it's been "[crappy 1980's live action tv show network]" ever since. Thoughts?

(No, I don't have cable, but I'm visiting family members who do, so I apologize if this has already been noted on the board)

In many ways it does resemble the live action version of a comic strip
LOL

Could this show be on for educational reasons. Do cable nets have to air educational shows? I know a lot of stations OTA run the show with the educational icon up top
______________

Cable doesn't have to anything the FCC says. They're pay-to-air...so screw the public.

Plus, I doubt airing a show at midnight eastern and calling it educational would fly with anyone...regardless of the content.

Yes, and you have NO RIGHT to have hot water coming out of your hot water tap at 3 o clock in the morning when sleep is where the majority are anyway.
Let the cold water flow so the landlord can save a few bucks.

Cartoon is cartoon. Don't mislead the viewer!
______________

They aren't misleading anyone. The network decided quite a few months ago that it was essentially two networks: Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim. Kind of like Nickeloden, where it is two networks as well: Nickeloden, and Nick at Nite.

So with that being said, the Adult Swim name implies zero refernce to cartoons. So why not show Saved By The Bell? Their demographics obviously are enjoying the show, or it wouldn't be shown.

Well, the idea was that Adult Swim would play adult cartoons, that was the rub, it was what made them unique. Now, if they are just going to show live action comedies like everyone else, than they are.... like everyone else....

Also, the 'Adult Swim' name was kind of a take off on MTV's "liquid Television" which was mostly adult cartoons (despite the "kids get out of the pool" mentality that they also claim).

So, I agree, they should either make it clear viewers that they are no longer going to be focused on cartoons, or at least change the name, imo.

If that's the case, then why all the hate mail they received (including the one that prompted the "name change")?

Well of course there will be a person or two who objects to this.

But I'm smack in the middle of their target demographic and I couldn't be more excited. Everyone my age knows every Saved By The Bell episode by heart and this is a hiliarious nostalgic trip. My DVR is recording every episode.

Adult Swim has become a lifestyle network. It's a network programmed towards a specific lifestyle, which is mostly men 18-34. They couldn't be hitting the mark any better, which is why they've had nothing but success with their programming.

The power is yours!

Cartoon network sometimes doesn't have cartoons on. For example about a month ago, they showed the movie "snow day".

I have no problem with them airing Saved by the bell, but really despite the live action part, its also not a adult program (even if Adult swim's demo are the people who watched the show back in the day). It belongs more on cartoon network's type of programing, since it is a kids show.

What's even more bizarre was that it was a Nickelodeon picture.
